Impact Austin's spring grant cycle is one step closer to awards, with six nonprofits selected for site visits by the Community and Education Grant Review Committees (GRCs). In June, Impact Austin will award four grants across two focus areas totaling $241,200. Within each focus area, the nonprofit receiving the most member votes will receive a grant of $96,500 for the purpose outlined in its proposal. The second nonprofit in each focus area will receive an unrestricted award of $24,100.

Discovery Day is Impact Austin's signature day of learning. After three years of virtual events, 2024 Discovery Day is offered in person at St. Edward's University on Friday, March 1, from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM. You might think that "book club" is a new Impact Austin activity. It's not, in fact! We gathered in 2007, 2008, and 2012 to learn from authors who wrote about philanthropy, and members attending received a copy of each book under discussion. In 2013, "Impact Austin Book Club" met as members only to discuss Creating Change through Family Philanthropy. Girls Giving Grants (g3) is Impact Austin's youth initiative and giving circle for young women in grades 8-12. g3 makes annual awards to Austin-area nonprofits that serve Central Texas youth. Since founding, they have awarded $115,600 to 18 organizations. At their January 21 meeting, the 55 members of g3 named five nonprofits as semi-finalists for their 2024 grant of $8,500.

I'm delighted to share that after a successful pilot this fall - where we learned a lot! - we are officially launching the full Materials Mobile Program January 25, 2024! The full launch will include a new webpage for the program, a new online reservation system, a series of best practices, a graphics package and info sheet for schools to use to promote with their teachers, and much more.
