St Helens Mountain Bike Trails
by QueenBee

“The Bay of Fires is one of two Epic trails in Australia, but the experience is like none other. Few rides in the world traverse such a variety of landscapes and deposit riders into a scene straight off a postcard as a reward for their effort.”   From the mountains to the sea, The Bay of Fires Trail is a backcountry riding experience like no other. Starting high in the Blue Tier Forest Reserve, the 42km point-to-point wilderness trail descends to the ocean, finishing on the squeaky white sand of Swimcart Beach.   The Blue Tier may sound familiar because it forms the ‘blue’ part of th ..read more

Winter on and off the Trails in St Helens
St Helens Mountain Bike Trails
by QueenBee
1y ago
Unlike other MTB trails in the state and nation who close their trails over winter, the St Helens MTB trails remain open and are in PRIME shredding condition. The sandy granite soils in our area mean that they are perfect for winter riding and there are still plenty of things to do in St Helens off-trail in the off-season. Hit the beach Even if you don’t want to get in the water, which is a shame as the water clarity is amazing this time of year, you can still enjoy some beach time. From Falmouth to the Gardens you will find a variety of beaches and the chances are pretty high this time of yea ..read more

We are counting down the days until our first event, The Dragon Trail and its 300 odd competitors rolls into Snellins’, as you can tell we are just a tad pumped about this! We have been in regular contact with the organiser’s Louise and Craig, and holy barracuda batman, they have pulled out all the stops to craft an epic event – from the bright red yerts and glamping bell tents that will be packed up and moved from Branxholm to Weldborough to St Helens to the inflatable dragon that will be taking up residence at the Flagstaff Trailhead on Saturday 20 March. The event will start on Thursday 18 ..read more

Before you head off on your ride of the Dreaming Pools there’s a few things you need to know and a few things that are important you consider.   It may be 27kms, but don’t be fooled…it’s not all downhill and not an easy ride, it is rated blue, or more difficult, not just because of distance but because of the nature of the trail, including the pedalling you will have to do. (You can check out the elevation profile here to give you an idea of the amount of climbing.)   The Dreaming Pools is a wilderness trail, this means it traverses valleys and ridgelines through St Helens’ beautiful ..read more

St Helens Mountain Bike Trails

26 March 2020 – 4pm   Due to advice from the Tasmanian Premier this morning, we will be closing the St Helens Mountain Bike Trails effective as of midnight tonight. This includes the Bay of Fires trail and the Stacked Loop Network at Flagstaff, St Helens. This decision was not made lightly and is a reflection of our commitment to helping “flatten the curve” in these serious times. We understand that this will negatively affect businesses and we apologise for any inconvenience, but call for understanding at the hard decision that had to be made. We also know that this will disappoint man ..read more
