Hunting Elk/Wapiti In Wyoming U.S.A Trip One We drove the windy beautiful dirt road surrounded by aspens, pines, beavers, ducks, and the flowing creeks where the grassland and mountain meet. I was filled with some anxiety. Was I ready for this hunt and could I be successful with my bow this year? I have been, what I like to call 'bow hiking' for the last 6 years. I had close calls each year but could never make it happen. I had just returned from a grueling deer hunt with my bow in Utah. I had not succeeded. This was disheartening but I had to stay positive for this elk hunt. With all my fai ..read more

Joesfine Bergs - Rock Ptarmigan Hunting in Norway Daylight began to break through after an hour of steep hiking up into the mountains behind us, reaching the terrain where we could expect the badass Rock Ptarmigan to hang out.  From nowhere, the fog suddenly laid a blanket over the mountain tops around us, and the snow started to fall. Man, we were promised sun today... Definitely not this! But up here, you never know. Hunting in this area of northern Norway is associated with unpredictable weather, no roads and absolutely no mobile phone connection, so you kind of have to know what you ..read more

Hunting the elusive Australian Sambar with Swazi Ambassador, Mel Gray.   The day began as I crossed a tranquil creek during the early hours, signalling the start of my journey into the heart of a vibrant and lush green gully. An area known to hold good feed year-round, it was laced with an intricate network of game trails and bedding areas, setting the stage for a captivating exploration. My attention was quickly drawn to a well-defined game trail exhibiting fresh tracks, an invitation I couldn’t resist. I followed this path with a gradual ascent, all senses tuned to my immediate surrou ..read more

In the uncertain times of COVID-19, our farming sector was the backbone of the country. Continuing on through the lockdown and providing the country with one of the few hopes of the economy. Life on the farm during the level 4 lockdown was an interesting mix of emotions for Swazi Garment Technologist, Sarah Jamieson. She along with her husband Rodge farm 700 Fresian cows, on 280 hectares, north of Levin at Himatangi. After 9 years working at the Swazi World HQ, Sarah had to make a few tough calls, not only for her own future, but that of her family and the farm as everyone continues w ..read more

Above Claire and Kevin Power walking the Te Araroa Trail How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time The beginning of the end In 2017 we travelled to Cambodia; I was 51 and Kev was 52. At the time we had no idea how Cambodia would change the future Clare and Kevin Power. We’d been operating a successful publishing business for 15 years, working to deadlines and running on caffeine and adrenaline. We’d gone from almost going ‘tits-up’ with four teenagers, to being what some might view as ‘successful’. We’d bought and renovated a modest home, and we had all the toys. We had everything we rea ..read more

Wild Pork Quesadilla

A huge thank you to our ambassadors Philipp Spahn and Cheska Hawksford from The Wild Table for this yummy recipe.   Wild Pork Quesadilla This recipe is super easy but tasty as all hell. Take some wild pork (also works with domesticated pork obviously) and cut it into big chunks, 3–4-inch pieces. The quantity depends on how many people you want to feed. Add a rub to the pork, (I used the most amazing Pork rub by @eggspoons ) Place the pork in a large pot and add stock and beer or cider, until the liquid reaches to about an inch under the meat Add a chopped onion, c ..read more
