As hinted earlier this fall, GT Factory Racing is joining Devinci and Ibis in ending long runs of World Cup racing. But GT isn’t stepping away without a proper good bye. Other than the overshadowing fact that its ending, GT Factory Racing ended on a high note. 2023 was an exceptional year for the team. Overall junior win for Ryan Pinkerton, to took the jersey off Bodhi Kuhn’s back. An elite World Cup podium at Mont-Sainte-Anne for Ethan Craik, which can be a career defining result for any rider. Canadian Cycling Magazine » Canadian MTB

The infamous Trans Cascadia was always a little more than your average enduro race. The multi-day stage race set itself apart by diving deep into the remote wilderness of the Cascadia region. But going off the beaten path often involves some serious work making sure the trails are ready for racers. In Transforming Cascadia, Shimano looks at how that trail work element eventually overtook the racing part of the event. And how that had impacts beyond the narrow world of bikes. Transforming Cascadia What’s Shimano say about Transforming Cascadia? For nearly a decade, Trans Cascadia has been one ..read more

Bodhi Kuhn, from Rossland, B.C. had a break out year on the World Cup circuit in 2023. The Canadian soared to second in junior men’s DH at world championships and even pulled on the World Cup leader’s jersey. But that doesn’t mean the road to get there was easy and the year definitely wasn’t all high. Trek Factory Racing takes a long look back at the 2023 season for Kuhn and his teammates. That includes Loris Vergier’s run at the overall and Kade Edwards continued quest to mix speed and freeride in a way that impressed and and fellow racers. BC Bike Race started, quite literally, in Victoria, B.C. The first edition of what is now a Canadian XC stage race classic set out from the provincial capital way back in 2007. That was also the last time BCBR visited Victoria. With the race’s route constantly changing, stages visited communities all over Vancouver Island, the B.C. coast and even the Okanagan. Now, 17 years later, BC Bike Race is set to return for two stages of racing in Victoria in 2024. The storied technical XC trails of Hartland and the newly sanctioned singletrack in Partridge Hills will host the first two stages of racing ..read more

Dylan Sheffer is beyond reason in ‘Attainment’
Canadian Cycling Magazine » Canadian MTB
by Terry McKall

Dylan Sheffer is a rider’s rider. Deeply committed to the sport and pushing his riding to unthinkable heights, but on his own terms. You may never see his name on the Rampage live feed, but every rider on that podium knows Sheffer’s name. Attainment, Sheffer’s latest reel of absolutely wild riding, shows why. If Red Bull Rampage is freeride’s biggest, most public-facing stage, the backwoods of B.C. are the sports proving grounds. Where riders – both stars of the sport and those with little industry support and less interest in the spectacle of live broadcasts and judged events – practice their ..read more
