"Were trying to develop a passion and a love for reading," said Shannan Canady, Waco ISD mother. Waco ISD's first Over the Moon Reading event attracted families like the Canadys. Franklin is talking about a challenge many soldiers at Fort Cavazos are happy to put behind them. One soldier said the existing transportation didnt meet their needs. A car rammed into a business on 25 th Street on Wednesday evening. Waco Neighborhod Reporter Dominique Leh spoke with some business owners who said this isnt the first time something like this has happened. You may not realize it but wheat is part of most of our lives from the bread we eat to the flour we use for cooking and baking but a small insect, the hessian fly, is eating it up before it can even get to our kitchens. Mark Wiethorn and his sons are farmers of many sorts especially wheat. Wiethorn said its too early to have the hessian fly in the crop right now but in recent years the hessian fly knocked out a good bit of the wheat his family planted. Military veterans help make Killeen children's camp safer against fires

A Killeen camp for children with all kinds of needs was cleaned up by volunteers with Team Rubicon, a veteran led humanitarian organization, on Friday. Team Rubicon removed down and damaged trees from Peaceable Kingdom in Killeen and the rain didn't slowing them down.
