Never give an inch… Canada just announced that they will make it illegal to sell, transport, import, or use over 1500 styles of rifles. We all know that “assault weapon” is code for “scary looking rifle”, having absolutely nothing to do with function but that didn’t stop Trudeau from issuing the ban. "These weapons were designed for one purpose and one purpose only — only to kill the largest amount of people in the shortest amount of time," he said in a press conference on Friday. Or, you know, hunt, target shoot, compete with, defend yourself… Canada has gun registration so the government kno ..read more

The Glock 43X with Shield Arms 15 Round Magazine

Glock 43X with the Shield Arms 15 round magazine In 2014, Glock introduced the .380 caliber Glock 42 single stack pistol in response to the increasing demand for smaller, more concealable carry guns by the US population. While popular, consumers who preferred something in a 9mm platform were slow to adopt the 42. The answer to that concern would be the introduction of the Glock 43 in 2015. With a now small 9mm single stack carry pistol, the Glock 43 quickly gained traction in the defensive firearm world. However, the 6 round magazine and short grip  left much to be desired from consumers ..read more

Don't Modify Your Carry Gun
Tennessee Carry Blog

Back in 2019 I attended the MAG 20 class by Massad Ayoob. It’s an intense 2 day class, 10 hours a day with a working lunch all about the legal aspects of using deadly force. Before I went, I did a ton of research about him and his class so I could formulate a list of questions. One of the main questions I wanted to ask was about modifying your defensive weapons. Ayoob preaches that you should leave any gun you might use for self-defense as close to factory specs as possible. As someone who constantly looks for new gear and accessories, I had some issues with this point so I was fully prepared ..read more

The fallacy of the Enhanced Carry Permit “training”
Tennessee Carry Blog

I’ve been a firearms instructor for well over 10 years now and during that time, I’ve always preferred to do live-fire in-person training. Live-fire training allows me to coach students in the proper fundamentals of self-defense and firearms. In 2020, Tennessee introduced a new permitting process that let residents obtain the concealed carry permit training online instead of an in-person 8-hour course. A lot of people see this as deficient training and wanted to see students take a live-fire portion of the training. As someone who teaches the Enhanced Carry Permit course, let me be the first t ..read more

In 1853, 3 men began a wagon factory in Rhine Falls in Switzerland. Little did they know that company would become one of the world’s most renowned small arms companies, Sig Sauer. In 1864 that same company developed a rifle and the rest would become history. Fast forward to today and Sig Sauer has become a leader in small arms, supressors, optics, ammo, and airguns. In 2015 Sig Sauer began manufacturing optics and currently produces over 100 different types for rifles and handguns. We picked up a Sig Romeo-MSR a few weeks ago and have put it through it paces on one of our rifles to test relia ..read more

If you’re like five million other Americans, you bought your first gun this year. If you’re also like a lot of other first time gun owners, you’re wondering what you’re supposed to do now. How do I store it? How do I transport it? Can I carry it in public? How much ammo do I need? How do I learn how to use it? These are very common questions, especially for first-time gun owners. Transporting a gun in a car One of the first and most important aspects of owning a firearm is how to transport it. After all, the first thing you’ll be doing is taking it home from a gun store. A good rule of thumb i ..read more

Update: I’m going to edit this article on the fly as new information comes out. It won’t change my opinion about the shootings but it may effect some of the facts. More facts are still coming out, but on the night of August 25th 2020, 17 year old Kyle Rittenhouse shot 3 people, killing 2 of them after a chaotic scene captured on video. To start this post, I’m going to present the facts about the timeline, shooter, and victims without opinion. At the end of the article I’ll add my personal opinions as a firearms trainer and student of self-defense law. With any opinion, they should always be ta ..read more

No, Tennessee is not a constitutional carry state…yet

At Tennessee-Carry, we get a lot of comments from folks who think that Tennessee has gone to permitless carry. To be clear, we have not. You must have a permit to legally carry a firearm in public. Otherwise, the penalties can be severe. Ever since Governor Lee announced that he was introducing a permitless carry bill, gun owners in the state of Tennessee have been abuzz about it. In February of 2020, Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee announced his support for legislation to allow residents to carry guns without a permit. In March and May, the bill advanced throug ..read more
