MESQUITE – October 10, 2021 – The Mesquite City Council, at its October 4th meeting, approved an advanced funding agreement for the Lawson Road Highway Safety Improvement Program Project. The agreement will authorize funding and Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) participation in the project. In April, the city announced the award of a state grant of $471,930 for the project. The project will add a three-foot shoulder and guardrail on both sides of Lawson Road from 1,635 feet south of East Cartwright Road to 2,885 feet north of Milam Road. MESQUITE – February 8, 2022 – The Mesquite City Council adopted unique and expanded employee mental health benefits to address traumatic events during the February 7 City Council Meeting. The policies and procedures were revised, in part, due to the Traumatic Event Leave Act (the Act) adopted during the 87th Session of the Texas Legislature. BALCH SPRINGS - July 26, 2022 - At 3:17 p.m. on Monday, July 25 a grass fire between Interstate 20 and the Spring Ridge Housing Addition was reported to Balch Springs Fire Department. Balch Springs Fire Department Booster 6 (brush truck) and Engine 2 were the first to respond.
