Last time around we finished 7th in the league for the 2nd consecutive season and made it to the semi-final of the Europa Conference League in our first foray into Continental football. If you missed that post then you can have a catch-up here or if you have stumbled across the blog for the first time you can find the entire series here. How did 2032/33 pan out for the Labronci, could we improve on our 7th position in the table, and could we equal or better last season’s European run? Would this finally be the year we made some sort of meaningful impact in the Coppa Italia, probably not! Tran ..read more

At the moment, it feels like 99% of blogs being posted are either reviews of new features or initial FM23 save reveals. Whilst here I am still trying to wrap up my current FM22 save! Last time round we were triumphant in our first-ever European final, lifting the Conference League in a packed-out Ulker Fenerbahce Sukru Saracoglu Stadium in Turkey while domestically we were continually qualifying for Europe but always falling short of reaching the Champions League. So it is time for a bit of time hop, jumping four seasons since our last update finding ourselves at the close of season 2036/37 ..read more

I had planned on doing a post giving an overview of how the footballing landscape has changed over the last 10 seasons this time around but have decided against it, for the time being, it may be something I look to do after either 15 or 20 seasons into the save. If that’s something you’d like to see then please let me know. Back to the normal posts, as it were. Last season we finished off in 7th place and qualified for Europe, something the club had not achieved since way back in 2005/06 when they finished 6th allowing for continental football the following season. To get there so quickly was ..read more

Following last season’s promotion, which you can read about here, we had another crack at the Serie A. It’s time to crack on with season 2029/2030. If you are stumbling across this blog for the first time then you can catch up on the entire series here. Transfers With a few million to spend on improving the squad and a healthy improvement to the wage budget, it was time to make some changes to the playing squad in the hope of keeping ourselves in the top flight for more than a single season. We boosted our coffers further by allowing several players to leave, including Martin Liendo to Estudi ..read more

Last time round we survived relegation and ended up finishing our first season back in Serie A in 13th place, closer in points to Europe than we were to the relegation zone. A stark improvement from last time we were in the top flight! If you missed that episode then you can find it here while you can find the entire series so far here. Transfers Not quite as hectic as last season, but there were still some big transfers made, both coming into the club and leaving for pastures new including breaking the club record for Highest Transfer received along with breaking my own spend on an individua ..read more

Last time round we ended the blog half way through the campaign on our return to Serie A, stuck near the foot of the table could we strengthen in January and turn things round or would we be a one and done in the top tier of Italian football. Read on to find out. Transfers After going to the board to ask for extra funds they gave us £1m to spend in January. We used this to bring in Peter Gilfillan, a 21-year-old Scottish kid who would go straight into the first team and Frankfurt striker Igor Matanovic at a cost of £180k to bolster the front line. The only outgoing was that of youngster Dachi ..read more

Last season we put a brave fight in our attempt to stave off relegation following our return to Serie A which can be found here. If you happen to be a first-time reader then you can catch up on the series from the beginning in all its glory, here. This season The aim for this season, despite both the board and media tipping us for a mid-table finish, was to bounce straight back up to the top tier at the first attempt. To do that there would be some changes in the squad. In fact, wholesale changes were made with 20 new arrivals and 21 departures over the course of the campaign. Too many to go ..read more

At the end of my last post, found here, I said I was fearful of the season ahead due to the huge gulf in resources, and that wasn’t just in comparison to the teams at the top of Serie B, but also the likes of Pordenone who were the lowest placed team to avoid relegation who were spending more than quadruple our wage budget. We shouldn’t be able to compete financially which in turn should see us struggle on the pitch, shouldn’t it? Let’s see how we got on! Transfers As has been custom since we started this journey, there was no money to spend in the transfer market. Once again meaning a relian ..read more

As you all know by now, I have been managing and blogging about Livorno on FM22 now since the start of December. Due to how slowly I play the game it’s taken me 4 months to run through 6 seasons, slow progress by others’ standards, but it has been an excellent experience running through the lower depths of Italian football guiding the side all the way back up through the leagues from the 5th tier, Eccellenza back to the top tier, Serie A. This was the season we have spent the whole save looking forward to, a return to the Serie A but it was also almost not the case. I have been offered jobs a ..read more

After last season’s eventual 9th place finish, we were hopeful of pushing on slightly, and finishing anywhere higher than this would be viewed as a good season in my eyes at least. The board were expecting a playoff finish which is 11th and above whilst the media surprisingly had us tipped us for a 4th place finish. Transfers It was another busy window with several positions needing to be filled alongside picking up any bargains along the way whom we felt could or would improve the side but with no money to play with it would need to be loans or free transfers, now a common theme for our side ..read more
