Unless you’re a full-timer you store your trailer between camping trips. Believe it or not, there are some must do’s in order to maintain the trailer’s integrity in summer storage. While this blog post is focused on what we do for Blue Steak, our International 25 CCD Airstream, summer maintenance principles are important for all trailers. Basically, there are two trailer storage procedures, 1)... Source ..read more

Boondock Water Saver

When we are at home, we turn on the tap and basically we have a never-ending flow of clear clean water. Because of this, we use a lot of water for washing dishes, long hot showers, brushing our teeth and the essential flushing the toilet (even the water-save type uses a lot of water!). When we are Boondocking, we require a complete change of habit in our water usage. It means that we must be... Source ..read more

Hot Days Sun Shade

We have been thinking about adding a “Sun Shade” to the awning of Blue Streak for the past couple of year. To be honest, the idea of spending several hundred dollars for “RV” shades that attach to the awning just can’t compute. Really, how often would you actually use it?? Last year in the “heat dome” that we experienced, I decided to do some research for options. What I choose was 12’X 6′ Source ..read more

New Loveland Bay 2022

One of our favourite longtime rustic boondocking campgrounds has been Loveland Bay on Vancouver Island. Two years ago the Province of BC spent 2.5 Million Dollars to add some 22 new sites and upgrade the entire old rustic campground to WOW!!. The thing is, it’s still a no service location and still 15k of logging roads to get to it. Now I would use the term “Glamdock” , This is looking South into... Source ..read more

One of the projects we had for this year (2022) was the instal of the Haloview CA112 Wireless RV Side Marker Light Cameras. Well, when you go to YouTube you see how easy this is to instal – at least on the typical flat sided “White Box Trailer” (no offence meant). Let me say it’s not that easy on an Airstream trailer. I did not expect some of the surprises I got during the instal. I think it’s... Source ..read more

2022 First Glamp ?

We all have our favourite places on earth and ours happens to be Morton Lake on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. I have often said to the Boss (technical term for Mo), that if we could build a permanent cottage it would be here. The lake is warm, fresh water with a constant in flow from Lake Mohan to the west with an out flow to the east, making for continual change of crystal clear... Source ..read more

One of the 2022 projects on my list was to better utilise the secondary closet next to the fridge for storage ( Go here for details ). First was to add shelves to the closet because we never use it for clothing. See pix for the finish DIY. Next on the list was to better utilise a wasted space by adding a sliding double box storage solution under the dining settee. See pix for the finish DIY. Source ..read more
