The dancers from Darwin have arrived and welcomed into our studios - their home for the next week. We have 19 swags, air mattresses and lots of suitcases in studio 4 and Tiffanie has moved in to be with them and help where needed. Our Alice Springs dancers had a fabulous time staying in the Darwin studios for our Swan Lake Tour. The Dancers flew into Alice, walked straight into rehearsals and costume fittings. Dinner together, sorted out suitcases and beds and prepared for Sunday rehearsals in the Theatre - Monday they will catch their breath. Ben flew in from Melbourne giving Miriam a full ca ..read more

Jose Petrick is a wonderful supporter of Duprada Dance Company and our ballet school and absolutely loves ballet. We invited Jose and 16 of her friends into our Studios to watch our professional dancers in their morning class and enjoy morning tea after class. What a fabulous morning Jane Bannister picked Jose up and she arrived with such energy and enthusiasm which entertained everyone around her. The ABC filmed the morning and interview Jose and some of her friends while they were here. A special time for everyone involved, Jose has attended every one of our performances over the last 30 yea ..read more

We have had a busy yet inspiring start to the 2024 year. It is our 40th Anniversary making us all very proud. Excited students are in their new classes, proudly wearing their new leotards with new teachers. They seem to take it all in their stride while the Mum's and Dad's are trying hard to navigate a new routine for their busy days ahead. It is inspiring to see how proud parents are of their children growing up and giving them the opportunity to experience such a rich activity. We are looking forward having our new students in dance classes and watching them learn, become more confident and ..read more

Thank you to everyone who came to see 'The Nutcracker' you made this event very exciting. The children were so absolutely thrilled to be in this ballet and, although what they are doing in the ballet is supposed to be a surprise it was difficult for lots or young dancers who just wanted to shout from the roof tops. It was a special time here in the studio watching them learn their choreography and be fitted for their costumes. The chat every afternoon on the mat in reception was all about the ballet, special rehearsals and their characters. When they came out on stage to such a fantastic audie ..read more

Our audiences at Araluen in August for our performance of 'The Briefcase' is the motivation behind so many activities in our Studios. We have been getting ready for this performance since May this year. We prepare for performances in several stages - students begin by learning their own dances and begin to learn about the story. Excitement will build this week as our first combined rehearsal session will be held on Friday and a Theatre Rehearsal on Sunday. Students and teachers will be able to watch the other classes perform their dance and watch the ballet company dancers performing and bring ..read more

Thank you everyone who came to our 'High Tea' enjoying a fabulous afternoon. It was heartwarming to see everyone enjoying tea and coffee, chatting to friends and people they have not seen for some time. A massive thank you to everyone who prepared the food - absolutely fabulous. Dancers working differently! The dancers from Duprada Dance Company dancers served our High Tea guests on Saturday instead of their normal routine which would have been to be in the studio taking their regular ballet class and then in rehearsals. The studio looked amazing, it was transformed for this special event with ..read more

The studio was buzzing with excitement and giggles after I thanked Billy for his performance and remarked that it had been 15 years since we had performed with one man on stage - Peta Baillie replied very quickly stating that there may have been two boys on stage revealing that she and Doug were expecting a new baby in October, adding to her family with a boy or a girl! It took a couple of seconds for the penny to drop and then lots of excitement and plenty of giggles thinking of Peta in classes, rehearsals and performing. Congratulations to Peta and Doug on their exciting news. Peta and I mad ..read more

Gala én Pointé

Rehearsals at the moment are breathtaking, inspiring and challenging all at once. The dancers are now working on the final phase of rehearsals before we 'bump-in' to the theatre. Performing a 'Gala' is like a breath of fresh air after performing 3 complete story ballets in 2022. It is a complete turn around because a 'Gala' allows a ballet company to produce the best of the best in their repertoire. Short classical Ballets such as the historical romantic 'Les Sylpides' to the french chic 'Suite en blanc et noir' together with very new choreographed works such as 'Poetry in Motion' along with e ..read more

I hope everyone has had a good break and if you were in Alice Springs for Christmas - Wow! the weather! It was fantastic have cool weather, continuous rain and see the rivers running. Our ballet year begins with the Ballet Company's 'Summer Intensives'. Our dancers and teachers have been on a well earned break and their Summer Intensives gets them back classes where then can regain their strength and flexibility. They also begin learning the Repertoire for the first ballet of the year. At the end of 2020 I thought I should create a 2021 Calendar - it was such a different year for everyone. Al ..read more
