Sonic bliss without the sacrifice Hearing loss isn’t something you think about everyday unless you’re experiencing it. As worship leaders and musicians, we rely on our hearing, often without thinking about it. Hearing is one of the most important aspects of what we do as musicians. We hear what we play, we hear our own voice, we hear the voices of others and other instruments. Music is meant to be heard, so it’s often loud. So what are worship musicians to do about protecting their hearing while being able to play and sing excellently? Enter Minuendo Lossless Earplugs, a cutting-edge innovatio ..read more

From Hard Rock to a Heart of Worship

One Guitar Player’s Journey from the Secular to the Sacred I started playing guitar in the late 90s and cut my teeth on bands like the Smashing Pumpkins, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Incubus, Rage Against the Machine, and Radiohead, just to name a few. With my Schecter C1 Classic and Zoom 505II, I would spend hours learning the riffs and solos to my favorite songs so that I could impress my friends and show off to girls. Sonically, I was drawn to thick walls of sound, creamy distortion, and blistering solos with a healthy dose of wah pedals.  When I got older and had some money saved up, I boug ..read more

How David Reveals the Heart of Worship
WorshipGTR
by Samantha Pavletich

People may view worship as the thirty minutes on Sunday morning when we sing to the Lord in church. That is a form of worship and corporate worship is very important in the Christian walk.  Coming together with other believers and worshiping the Lord is very necessary. It strengthens our walk with the Lord to be surrounded by brothers and sisters in Christ all praising our Heavenly Father together. Personal worship time with the Lord is also vital and important in our lives as followers of Christ. The times when you are on your knees in the quiet of your home praying and sp ..read more

Dear Worship Artists & Musicians, We see you. We recognize the sacrifices you make to bring music to our churches every Sunday. We appreciate the investments you make in your ministry so that you can offer your best to the Lord. We know that you spend hours practicing, rehearsing, and preparing for marathon Sunday mornings. We see you, and we’re sorry that your gifts have been feared, criticized, and made controversial. We apologize that well-meaning people have thrown stones at your gifts, denied your anointing for the Church, and questioned your appointment for such a time as this. You h ..read more

How to Know You’re Growing Closer to God
WorshipGTR
by Jayme Thomason

It’s easy to recognize you’re growing in your walk with God when you’re at the beginning of your faith journey, because it may have begun with a significant experience. You may recall the moment you gave up the right to run your own life, you put down your dukes and you cried out in repentance for true mercy and grace and recognized Jesus as your King forever. But somewhere in the middle of a decades-long, day-in and day-out faith walk, you wonder, “am I truly growing closer to God?” In my own fait journey, I’ve discovered a few pieces of evidence that tell me I’m going in the right direction ..read more

Gable Price and Friends concludes the first leg of their tour with Kansas City bbq and a sold-out room. The evening started with a gracious dinner invitation from Adam Elizarraraz. He texted my husband, Junior, with the message “We’re grabbing dinner at Q39. Do you want to join us?” We had plans to meet up with the band after sound check but before the VIP meet and greet prior to the show, hoping for a little time to catch up with them. When we heard that one of the best barbecue spots in Kansas City was on the menu and that we’d get to spend time with the band, we excitedly said yes. Around ..read more

Gretsch G6609TFM Players Edition Broadkaster Centerblock Electric Guitar Review
WorshipGTR

I rarely make impulse decisions to buy guitars. Normally I spend hours, days, weeks researching and deciding which direction I want to go then I go on the hunt to find what I am looking for. In the case of this Gretsch G6609TFM, I made the decision to buy it before I even played it. Literally I walked into my local shop, took one look at it and told them I had to have it. Now hold up. Before you all start telling me why it is bad to buy a guitar without playing it. I did in fact play it before I left the shop. First off I know my local shop well and I know that even if it doesn’t play exactl ..read more

Rattle! – Elevation’s Viral Easter Release is a Must Listen
WorshipGTR

I must admit, I didn’t see this live on Easter. One of the Worship leaders I play with told me to look it up. He raved about it so much, that I almost didn’t believe him. Elevation has killed their last three singles, joining forces with the likes of Brandon Lake, Kari Jobe and Cody Carnes. Fast forward to Wednesday night. I had a spare second and decided to do a search on YouTube and found that Elevation had just released an official lyric video. Wow. That is really all that can be said. I truly feel that this song, not only hits hard on a guitar/musical level but lyrically it is a song for ..read more
