We had a number of great Christmas events this year, as we celebrated Jesus as the thrill of hope. Here is a highlight on two of them: Chorlton Light Switch On Chorlton Light Switch On On the first Sunday in December, we held Chorlton’s annual Light Switch On. All the stops are pulled for this event: a brass band, a Christmas market, carol singing, Father Christmas, kids’ crafts, and of course the lighting of the Christmas tree, complete with fireworks. We had some great help from Manchester City Council, Chorlton Traders (you can read their write up on it here), and the wonderful Royal Oak ..read more

This is the fourth and final post in our ongoing Church Near Me series. We are asking what does it look like to be the church in Manchester? What will people find when they search “church near me”? What will they see? This section is all about our hope. If you have ever struggled with losing heart, this is especially for you. When our world wastes away, we waste away. It’s like we’re the dog on a lead, a strong lead, and we just can’t shake it off, we’re going wherever that lead is going no matter how hard we might try otherwise. And when things go bad, we do lose heart. We give in, give up, a ..read more

This is the third post in our ongoing Church Near Me series. We are asking what does it look like to be the church in Manchester? What will people find when they search “church near me”? What will they see? In this instalment, we look a bit more into our words. 2 Corinthians 4 teaches us that the church is a people who have Jesus in their life. Their whole life. That means He will be present in the words we use. Jesus allows us to speak words of life into a world of death. We speak because we believe Paul, in verse 13, tells us that if we believe we speak. And by “speak” he means to talk about ..read more

This is the second post in our ongoing Church Near Me series. We are asking what does it look like to be the church in Manchester? What will people find when they search “church near me”? What are people looking for when they search for the church? This particular focus is about our own weakness. 2 Corinthians 4 teaches us that the church is a place where people have Jesus in their life. If Jesus is in our life, then He’s certainly also in our weakness. Why are we weak? Paul teaches us in 2 Corinthians 4.7 that we are weak. A jar of clay is easily broken. Why is that, why are we weak? Paul tel ..read more

The welcoming environment of this pub lends itself to making connections with the people around you. Not to mention that the pizza reminds me of home. In a new home t ..read more
