Hey there, fellow seekers of truth! If you've ever wandered into a bookstore or scrolled through online shops in search of a Bible, you know the feeling: a bewildering array of translations staring back at you, each claiming to be the one true guide to divine wisdom. It's like trying to choose a flavor at an ice cream shop when you've never tasted any of them!
We get it. The abundance of English Bible translations can be overwhelming, especially for new believers eager to dive into the sacred text. The confusion doesn't just stop at the sheer number; it extends into the realm of passionate op ..read more

Spoiler Alert! I'm a Christian and a Pastor and my honest answer to that question is, "Nope!" That statement and my answer to it may be hitting you differently depending on your thoughts about those different topics. If you're not a Christian and you clicked on this to see what it was all about, I hope I piqued your curiosity enough to read through the whole post. If you ARE a Christian and you clicked on this then you likely have some strong opinions about "those topics" and may be wondering if I'm some sort of ultra-left-leaning liberal pastor who's thrown the baby out with the bathwater. I ..read more

For the last week or so we've been staying in a very remote area between Haines Alaska and Haines Junction Yukon. We were up well above the tree line surrounded by gravel and permafrost.
Not the prettiest description but trust me when you see it you'll probably fall in love
with it the way we did! Truly breathtaking views in every direction that change as the sun travels across the sky from East to West.
From this base camp, we set out to explore the surrounding lakes, glacial cirques, and mountain streams. It was on one of these day trips that we found the place we wanted to explore and tr ..read more

Hey there! Let's have a friendly yet challenging conversation about an intriguing topic that's been on my mind lately: the trend of churches focusing heavily on charismatic gifts, especially the gift of tongues. According to recent surveys, growing churches seem to put a major emphasis on this aspect, even to the point of offering classes and encouraging everyone to speak in tongues. But is this really in line with the Biblical examples, or has it become more of a church growth strategy that seems far from the genuine intent?
It's fascinating how many people are drawn to things that appear to ..read more

Hey there, fellow adventurers! Have you ever watched the show ALONE? If not, let me give you a quick rundown. It follows the gripping journey of 10 individuals as they battle the elements, competing to survive in the wild for a chance to win $500,000. They are stripped of modern comforts, left to fend for themselves and document their daily struggles. The last person standing claims the ultimate prize. It's an intense test of endurance and resilience.
Now, imagine if our Christian walk was like a survival show, where we had to rely on a limited selection of Bible verses to guide us through li ..read more

Hey there, fellow Christian! So, you're thinking about getting a tattoo? Well, I've got some good news for you. I actually believe that there's a strong biblical ideology supporting those who want to get the right kind of tattoos.
In this post, I want to discuss the most commonly referenced passage in Scripture and explain why I think it's misunderstood. Additionally, I'll walk you through an important biblical practice that Jesus himself would have participated in, and show you how tattoos can be our modern-day version of that ancient practice. Let's dive right in!
If you bring up the topic ..read more

If you've ever planted a garden then you know how much work goes into it. It's no small task to turn a patch of dirt into a backyard produce aisle.
Years ago I moved into a house that had a huge backyard and tucked away on the edge was what looked like the place where they used to have a garden. Long since overgrown, you could barely see the remnants of garden rows and tilled-up edges. I got the bright idea that I wanted to put in a garden. Did I start small with just a few things? No, that would be too easy. Having never gardened before, naturally, I planned to put in a huge garden with the ..read more

Let's face it, most people don't like being told no. But what about when God says, "no?"
How do you respond when God says No?
Have you ever had a plan in mind and every time you try to work toward it something seems to come up? After a while, you start to wonder if it's more than just random circumstances. You may even start thinking things like, "Ok God, so does this mean you just don't want me to go.... or do.... or buy... or....?"
I've often wondered what it actually looked like for Paul & Silas to be "prevented" from going North into Asia. In Acts 16:6-8 we get a brief explanation that ..read more
