[Spoiler Ahead] Although this is the first time me reading a Humayun Ahmed novel, I’ve known him since forever. As a kid, I remember my family waiting for his Eid comedy telefilms to start up back in 2001-2006 so we could munch on the grand feast on our living room sofa and laugh heartily at all their one-liner jokes. We don’t get telefilms like that anymore after his death, but I’m glad he wrote so many books to get a feeling of the old times whenever we want to again. Now, about the book, as I’m a slow Bangla reader, it took me a while to finish it, but it was so much fun. It is like his us ..read more

Book Review for: Beyond the Story - 10-year record of bts

BTS are stronger than stone and steel, reading their book made me realize that. We as humans can barely go on under continuous baseless criticism, while BTS did (constantly) and still went on making music. I love them and admire their tolerance level very much. For example, I would’ve either punched every hater and cyber bully I could find in the face or thrown my shoes at them I’m not even kidding right now, but they didn’t, and they never quit, and as Armys, in whatever we’re doing, shouldn’t either! Let’s find a part of our strength from their story. After reading about their internal stru ..read more

Book Review for: As Long as the Lemon Tree Grows by Zoulfa Katouh

Someone give this author an award, or a cake, or a hug I don’t care, I just want her to know what an incredible book she wrote and what an incredible writer she is. The story is about a girl surviving amid war, and it reminded of me the dull pain I felt while reading A Thousand Splendid Suns, a masterpiece of the year 2023 and a must-read for every avid reader who likes to cry while reading. Personally, when I read a book, I don’t only read it, I get sucked into it, I start feeling a huge fraction of the character’s fear, pain, and grief, so books like this leave a scar over my anxious heart ..read more

Wow, where do I start? There’s so much I want to say, so much I can’t form the words for. Let me start from the beginning then. I started this book club while I was still very much a teen, not having many friends who loved books as much as I did, this seemed like the best option to find readers who later turned into my besties. Bookworms is a safe zone for busy ladies who love reading and talking, it’s something that I always wanted to be a part of, where we don’t only speak about one book but many that we read throughout the year. I walked through many book clubs before this, and although I ..read more

Who am I? No seriously, who am I?

Who am I? No seriously, who am I? I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately, and I still couldn’t find a definite answer because every time I look at myself closely I realize I’m never the same person to everyone who’s in my life, I have a different personality set for each and every one of them. - I’m an overexcited friend who loves talking nonstop and hugs, - but a super chilled out; sarcastic little girl with my family, - but then there are friends whom I treat like precious angels, followed by friends whose legs I pull and annoy as if they’re my sister (love of both is no less than the o ..read more

Why does it hurt so much when things in life change? Because we strive for perfection in a world created for imperfections. And why do we strive for perfection? Because we were dropped on earth from the perfect place called the paradise. This life isn’t supposed to be perfect even though we want every second of it to be. What is the purpose of hardships? No seriously, why the fkjd must we suffer? They are given to us so that we may come closer to our lord and not get lost between the folds of his temporary world and start planning for the real one and honestly, this comprehensive book won me ..read more

Book Review for: The Beauty of Time Management in Islam by Umm Mohammad Abizer

This book was so true to its title. The Beauty of Time Management in Islam is so good at explaining time management that I finished it in only 3 sittings. For someone who gets easily distracted by worldly affairs, I can barely ever do that! I finished it within the 24 hours after starting it. It teaches us about the importance of time in Islam, and about how we might be unconsciously misusing every moment of it. It gave us a step by step recommendation on how we can make all the hours of our days useful with profound background information and planning templates. What I loved the most in this ..read more

Book Review for: The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fxxk

It took me a while to write this review because I wasn’t being able to compile my thoughts into a single paragraph for ‘The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fxxk’. It’s a self help book I read 10 days ago, and honestly it has made me look at life as a whole rather differently, it speaks to you as if he’s your friend and he’s literally slapping you at the back of your head to make you understand the concept of how this world works. It spoke about so many everyday problems that we tend to ignore, it’s a book that gave me a sense of clarity, and sometimes that feels like more than enough. A book that ..read more

Whose fault was it that Devdas and Paro didn’t end up together?
SAMAMA Reads

Most of my Asian friends might have seen the movie Devdas starring Shah Rukh Khan, Ashwariya Rai, Madhuri Dixit and a few others. It’s a story depicted from Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s novel Devdas, a heart breaking story of a forever love lost amidst society’s excessively high standards and arrogance, a story on regrets and sadness written in 1917 - in a completely different world than our own. But did we ever think it through about whose fault it actually was that Devdas and Paro couldn’t end up together? Well, today we will. First off if you’ve seen the movie you must have seen how arrog ..read more

Book Review for: Claude Monet’s book of Arts by Natalia Brodskaia

I invested my time into reading about something I never [not even once in my life] read about before - which is ART. Did I have fun? Read the whole review to find out. First off I’d like to point out how there’s not a single painting by Claude Monet that I didn't like. All of them are such perfections. The incredible display of sunlight in [Haystacks at Giverny in Muted Sunlight - 1889] the fifth picture sent a sweet, calming vibe to my heart. Now, about the painter himself. Because Monet wasn’t a psychopath, his life events weren’t really that interesting to read through. But this book helpe ..read more
