Today is Friday and it means Lithuanian Music Day on my channel. I'd like to share with you my rendition of Fugue on "Pulkim ant kelių" by Česlovas Sasnauskas (1867-1916) which I recorded at Vilnius University St. John's Church. Sasnauskas was an important Lithuanian composer of the Romanticism as well as an organist, choir conductor and singer. Pulkim ant kelių is a famous Lithuanian hymn, created by priest and poet Antanas Strazdelis-Strazdas (1760-1833) and traditionally sung before the Sunday High Mass in most churches even today. Sasnauskas created a beautiful fugue based on this melod ..read more

Yesterday our folding reed organ Henrietta had a great workout! My colleague soloist from Vilnius University Cultural Center, baritone Modestas Jankūnas and I had a short recital during 242nd birthday celebration of Vilnius University Faculty of Medicine. I played on Henrietta music Lemmens and Joplin and Modestas sang two beautiful songs by Schubert and Mozart. This fascinating instrument, probably built by Leonhardt was donated to us by Dagmar Hamberger, restored by Marcin Majak and tuned by Jakub Wszolek. Hope you will enjoy it!

Today I'd like to share with you my rendition of Phanthasia Septimi Toni from the Gdansk Manuscript (1591). I played it on September 5, 2023 during Early Music Festival "Banchetto Musicale" with Ausra and a group of other musicians. They sang music by Teodoro Riccio (c.1540–c.1601), the Mass setting dedicated to Stefan Batory, King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania. Ausra and I played 6 Fantasias from the Gdansk Manuscript (edited by Pierre Gouin & Marek Michalak) which worked very well with the motets from Liber primus missarum (1579) by Teodoro Riccio. The entire event was filmed by ..read more
