This meditation on Ukrainian Folk Song "The Moon in the Sky" is written to spread awareness about the terrible war in Ukraine. In Ukrainian this song is known as "Місяць на небі" (Misyatsʹ na nebi). Organists of all countries who are at a loss for words but cannot keep silent will find their voice in this piece. The song melody is presented in the right hand part on a solo registration and accompanied by flowing motion of sixteenth notes in the left hand part and pedal point in the pedals. This piece is an easier version of Op. 103. It will work very well for meditative music during liturgy a ..read more

Recently Marcin Majak delivered our masterfully restored folding reed organ Leonardo from Gdansk in Poland (tuned beautifully in synch with Henrietta by Jakub Wszolek). I tried it out at our Vilnius University St. John's church first before taking it home. Hope you will enjoy Verset in C Major by Louis-James-Alfred Lefebure-Wely (1817-1869) from his collection Vade-mecum de l’organiste, Op.187. After restoration it sounds really powerful since the reeds are renewed and the bellows don't leak anymore. Ausra and I are very happy with it. Hope you will enjoy it too!

In this tutorial I will teach you how to improvise a short prelude for a keyboard instrument without pedals which is based on J.S. Bach's short prelude in C Major, BWV 924 from the Klavierbüchlein for Wilhelm Friedemann Bach. The structure of the figure that we're going to use here is very simple. Basically, the left hand played the bass notes in quarter note and the right hand plays arpeggiated chordal notes. This tutorial is meant to provide musical examples to my Keyboard Prelude Improvisation Mini Course which is an introduction to my more extensive Prelude Improvisation Formula. Hope you ..read more
