Sooooo… another day another blog ( are you fed up of me yet) ?   As airbrush continues to grow across the industry globally, we are seeing a slight shift in the thought process.  The naysayers and those who are quick to say it was a fad are now happily jumping on this airbrush bandwagon, and we love to see it.  As there are a few classes available now, and of course many brands that are offering specific airbrush products for the brows. We have been asked to comment on the safety aspect of this treatment and we will happily oblige    As usual, you ask and you shall re ..read more

I was on Facebook groups this morning and saw this comment:      And I thought I should give my thoughts around what we can and can’t do.    Real life versus Salon life ♥️   Let’s get real, we all used the plex in our brow treatments, and even encourage using on the face with their own posts on beards. ? However, they have recently updated to say that we cannot use this near the eye area because it is not suitable. ?   And then AQUA DROPS entered the chat. ? Infinity - made up of me and Amber, are two techs with the proverbial finger on the pulse (ahem I m ..read more

So i feel like the grinch that stole christmas, because im a little glitter magpie and I would be covered in it, if i could.... BUT glitter and lamination (brows and lashes) is not a thing.  We are ALL for the gram and the TOK, we want to stand out, but we are also risking the health of our clients skin, brows and eyes with this trend and it cant be a thing.  Lets talk about it, what is cosmetic grade glitter. Cosmetic grade glitters are glitters that are specifically formulated and manufactured for use in cosmetic products. These glitters are designed to be safe and non-toxic for u ..read more

Skin Grab After Lamination
The Brow Geek Blog

Ok, I’m asked about this A LOT!! ? ?Skin grab after lamination using any hybrid tint brand? So after lamination (step 2) add a little saline to a cotton round) and wipe over the brows following the the hair direction. Reason - most if not all brow lamination kits contain oils which are part of the solution in order to nourish the hair while processing, (oil is a BARRIER) and as such after lam, if we do not remove this barrier, the skin grab can be poor. So - 1. This will not affect your lamination, 2. Saline is safe enough to put in your eyes, so this is safe to use on skin 3. Sodium chlo ..read more

SKIN GRAB UNDERTONE - HOW TO SPOT
The Brow Geek Blog

SKIN UNDERTONES   One of my most asked questions is this. Especially when we are looking at how we work out which undertone to balance when using bronsun   So its all in the veins.   Generally speaking the image attached (thanks Google) will tell you your undertone   This then will affect the result of the dye - as our skin undertone will either highlight or accentuate the base pigment colour of bronsun (for example)                            &n ..read more

Lets Talk Skin Grab

Educational post Let’s talk skin grab So bronsun, is not a tint it’s a dye and it’s a duo result product, eg you want a hair dye AND a skin grab. So we need to think about those two end results when we prep the area. A quick swipe with a make up cleanser is not going to give you long lasting results and micellar water contains oils So let’s talk prep I see many are using make up remover with no exfoliating, I see many use micellar water I see many use lash shampoos and spoolies, If you want a long lasting skin grab, then proper prep is step 1 and can’t be avoided. Make up remover ..read more

Castor Oil V Coconut Oil

CASTOR OIL V COCONUT OIL - why ? Ok, so I’m a little geek when it comes to why we use certain products and how they work and chemically how they perform! And something that I’m asked about all the time is castor oil, why do we recommend this as an oil, over. Say coconut oil etc, Welll ... first of all - coconut oil. Isn’t great for the face, it’s comedogenic - which means it’s really high on the scale of around 4 - this is an indicator of what products can cause blocked pores and acne; https://www.beneficialbotanicals.com/comedogenic-rating/ Castor oil is 1, which is low! So much better for on ..read more
