The Harrogate Chocolate Factory is a social enterprise aiming to help young people with learning disabilities and autism get the skills they need to help them into paid employment - and help everyone else feel good. Our chocolate contains cacao from the purest Peruvian Criollo bean which we slow roast at a low temperature to keep as many of the nutrients and antioxidants in our bars.

What does a normal day in the chocolate factory look like for you?
The normal day in the chocolate factory we do like wrapping the chocolate bar and then then we label bar and we put the expiry date on the bar. We did some moulding of chocolate for the next batch to wrap a bar of chocolate.

Hello March…Spring is in sight!
What a great month in our café we had in February! We were super busy over half term! Which is always a good sign. We have been busy getting our ideas together to get ready for Mother’s day this month, keep your eyes peeled for our poster with the special deal we will be running in a couple of weeks. We will also be starting a senior coffee morning which we are very exciting about so keep an eye out on our social media pages! Over the Christmas period, we got right back into hamper season, this time bigger than ever!
Ilke homes, a sustainable business which creates stunning modular homes using a modern method of construction, asked us to create 1200 hampers for all of their employees this year! As a thank you, they also invited us to their scrumptious Christmas dinner which our learners enjoyed immensely because of the kind welcome we received and the conversation that flowed so easily from the employees there.

One thing you may notice about our Harrogate Chocolate Factory chocolate bars is the eye-catching designs and colours of our wrappers.
We wanted the Harrogate Chocolate Factory bars to stand out and make an impact, so for our packaging, we decided to use the monumental buildings of Harrogate printed in bright and bold colours, making it personal to our little spa town whilst also been extremely eye-catching. We have some beautiful buildings in Harrogate and we decided, what better way to show our love for Harrogate and our love for chocolate all in one go!

Hi, my name is Sarah and I work in the Harrogate Chocolate Factory. I don’t really know what I want to do as a job yet, but working in the chocolate factory has let me make new friends, taught me how to focus on work, and gain more confidence.
I am now going to tell you how I make chocolate from bean to bar.
First things first, I tie my hair back, put on an apron and wash my hands. We roast some beans and once they are cooled down, we crush them in the cocoa break and separate the shell from the nib in the winnower.

The Harrogate Chocolate Factory is a social enterprise that is run by HS4LC, a local Harrogate charity that builds the bridge to employment and independence for young adults with learning disabilities and autism.
