Greetings. Finished first autocross with new Bridgestone RE 71RS tires. Read a lot about wear and "correct" pressures. My car is a '21 ND Club with Ohlins minimal negative camber as it is also daily driver. I started at 29 cold and after each run measured 32-34 psi. I've included pics of wear and would like some opinions of wear pattern. My initial read is pressure seems close but happy to hear your thoughts.
Thanks in advance for your input.

While it looks as though most AutoX's in the US are run in large carparks, our club runs them on our local track. NZ rules limit the length of the straight between corners/cones. Not as enjoyable as doing full laps, but a fun day out and on this day MX-5's were 4 & 5 out of 36 and ahead of all the WRX's, Silvias etc.

Hello all,
I am hoping to start doing some autocross in my local FL area next month in my ND2. I will be starting out in novice as my friend recommended, however my car is setup for STR and that would be the class I am in after novice ends.
I was curious what people recommend for brake pads on ND with OEM Brembos. I am not a fan of the stock pads and was looking into G-LOC for an upgrade to go along with Motul 600 fluid and 215/45R17 PS4S. The track guys seem to like using R10 front/R8 rear but would doing R6 square be better?
I daily drive my ND and take it up to the mountains as well. I d ..read more

Looking for some input on changes I plan to make to my setup.
Current setup:
2007 NC1
Cammed 2.5 swap
17x9 with Falken RT660 in 245
MeisterR Zeta CRD coilovers
Looking to upgrade my wheels to 17x10 and run a 255 tire since my Falkens need replacing. Might save them for track day seat time. I want more spring rate to work with the larger wheel/tire combo. Plan to run the RE71RS in the 255 size.
Suspension options I'm currently shopping:
MeisterR Club Race 10/6
GWR Feal Road Race 12/7
I'm leaning towards the Feal set for the spring rate as I may also add a front splitter down the line. Any ..read more

Hi All,
Sorry for the newbie questions but really appreciate your knowledge:
1) Is turning the TCS AND DSC off as simple as hitting the button just once? (It is a 2017 Miata Club/Brembo). I autocrossed long, long ago in other cars...and had to push and hold the button.....
2) I have Continental Extreme Contact Sports (215-45-17) on the stock BBS wheels. I know tire pressure is very personalized...but am looking for what I should set them at just to get started again? Again....long, long ago in other cars, I always like the rear pressure a little lower in the front as it felt a bit more cont ..read more

Before installing a Randall Cowl Intake, I'm looking to verify which SCCA classes prohibits its use because of the firewall penetration.
I'm fairly certain it's not allowed in STR :
Core Modifications....Modifications should not require cutting, drilling or permanent alterations to body panels.
14.10.C....The air intake system up to, but not including, the engine inlet may be modified or replaced...The existing structure of the car may not be modified...
I'm not certain about Class CSP ; the text is unclear to me, but it seems to allow cutting through the firewall:
Core Modifications...Pe ..read more

Hey all, I've been wanting to try my hand at learning some better car control when the rear end breaks loose. There's a wet drift day at my local track this weekend and I was thinking it would be a good opportunity to practice, but not sure if my NC with open diff would be worthwhile taking in it's current trim.
Will I be able to learn with the open diff? Will it be transferrable/useable in general? Appreciate any advice ..read more

Hey everyone! Looking to see if there's any interest in bolt on angle adapters for the NA chassis. Machined some brackets that bring the tie rod pickup point closer to the lower ball joint for some added angle and test fitted them to my 95 MX-5 to confirm the proof of concept. The result is increased steering angle, reduced bump steer, and reduced ackermann and is as easily reversible as changing a tie rod. I was originally machining the single set for myself as a fun project, however, I figured I'd check to see if anyone else wanted an alternative solution to cut knuckles or fabricated drift ..read more

Say, you're modifying something in your car for autocross purposes. Be it tires, or dampers, or whatnot. How do you test/verify your setup?
I found that I can do that for street — I have "key" road sectors which I use to get a sense of the car set up for street — tight bumpy road with a lot of vertical changes and off-camber turns; floaty road with different profiles of turns; section of straight with waves; etc, etc.
However, I found that a likeable street setup doesn't necessarily translate to a good autocross setup. I think I am struggling with repeatability. A new course each time is fun ..read more
