Mid Atlantic Car Fest is a Road course, drag race, then two autocross events. Over 4 days and driving in between. I started off with my pontiac G8, which broke after the road course. Then I pressed the solstice into service and despite it not being totally ready, absolutely shined at the autocross holding it down against the mighty ND miata. My only complaint was the cupholder kept coming out during the autox runs ..read more

Rebuilding my copart solstice

My wife sold our NC miata, because the value of it nearly doubled last year. So I needed a rwd coupe. All miatas are overpriced now. So I went on copart, found a running and driving body damaged salvaged solstice in Oregon. Paid $1000 for the car, $1500 for shipping it back to the east coast. And it's still not even street legal yet but the mods and work have begun. Pounded out the quarter panel "enough", suction cupped the door dents "enough", bought a new hood entirely. Stainless... Autocrossed my 2009 GXP coupe for the first time last weekend. On one particular hard right then left corner set, every lap I got a ding ding ding chime. Too busy holding on to look at what was up, but then at the end of the day I got a "service traction control" display message, and the button became a brick. On the way home the message reset and all is good again. Anybody have this happen, and what might cause it ..read more

First off - apologies, as the answers I seek are probably all in here somewhere. I'm bad at searching forums, and really backlogged at work, so I'm gonna be that guy and just ask. Especially since our next Sebring track day is this upcoming Sunday, and it's gonna be HOT! My last track day at Sebring brought the coolant temps up well into the 230's, and I did ping the temp light once (apparently that cuts some power, which sucked as I was in the middle of a fast left hander). My thoughts... GXP engine cooling for Sebring and Daytona track days - in search of some quick help ..read more
