Wheels: 17x7.5 with Offset +45 ? Tire Size: 225/45R17 (RE-71RS) I've been reading about 245/255 tires that fit, but sounds like it require spacers and extended lugs? I've also read that 225/45R17 is bolt on. The club I've been running with really pushes the rev limiter. I'm trying to figure out what a good tire size is for the wheel spec I have listed? (Good in this case = most mph out of second gear) I don't want to do extended lugs and spacers right now. I'd like for it to be... Bolt On Autocross Wheel and Tire Setup ..read more

SCCA Classing - The time to write letters is now

Hey folks, It seems like this forum section has died out a bit since the car isn't really viable in STR and is pretty minimal setup in DS. Just letting you know that if you ever hope for the car to have a competitive place in the street touring level in SCCA you should write letters now. Due to how the process works it's important to get in front of the committees/SEB early in the season or the car will be stuck against the ND-2 Miata for 2025 as well. There was a proposal in 2023 to move... SCCA Classing - The time to write letters is now ..read more

Which Oil Weight to Use for Autocross?

Is it advised to switch to 5w-30 oil when doing Autocross? I understand that Autocross is much easier on a car compared to a track day but wanted to check on the best practices for preventing any oiling issues. I’ll be doing my first autocross event (in any car) in a couple weeks near Sonoma Raceway on stock Primacy tires so I’m sure I won’t be nearly as good enough to push the car to the limits. But I’d still appreciate any insight if this becomes a hobby of mine. Thanks in advance ..read more

Hi everyone, It might be a bit of a silly question, but I've been using my 86 for autocross and accidentally hitting buttons on my steering wheel while taking corners. This prompts the voice command almost every session, and so I was curious if anyone knows how to turn off the infotainment for future autocross or track use? Thank you ..read more

DS - So where are we on the legality of the Performance Pack Brembos Now?

Given that the PP Brembos are now a "retrofit able option" on 22 and 23 MY cars - could we fit them on our 22s and 23s and not get challenged? I'm not sure of the performance benefit in terms of unsprung weight, but it might give a bit better brake feel and control than the stock floaters ..read more

2023 GR86 - Still DS with TRD exhaust and air filter?

Rulebook isn't clear. Picking up a 2023 GR86 in a couple weeks that we are stuck taking all the stuck-on extras (but at least we are paying MSRP.). It includes the cat back exhaust and air filter. We actually don't care about it but it's got it, and it's otherwise the car we want, so we'll deal with it. Normally I wouldn't think twice as I am fairly certain things like muffler and air filters are allowed in Street... but the rulebook states explicitly "GR86 (without TRD equipment... 2023 GR86 - Still DS with TRD exhaust and air filter ..read more
