In this weeks Peekskill Weekend Roundup we cover a few events outside of the Peekskill limits, but the full fun really occurs within the City borders from the Clay Studio Winter Market to HoliYAY where you can buy holiday gift to Wreaths Across America and Luminaria remembrance memorials, to music music everywhere from the Presbyterian Church to the Bean Runner, Gleason’s, and even John Tesh and the Nutcracker at the Paramount. Developer James Guerriero returned to the Common Council with a revamped proposal for his North Division and Howard Street project during Monday’s Committee of the Whole meeting. Guerriero, who proposes to construct a new, 125-unit mixed-use building at 201 N. Division Street, needs a special permit from the council. Councilman Dwight Douglas was not present at the meeting.

Wreaths Across America
On Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 12:00 p.m., the Peekskill American Legion Post 274 invites all to attend a ceremony at the Assumption Cemetery on Oregon Road in Cortlandt Manor, to honor those killed in action as well as other local veterans for the holiday season. Starting at 9 a.m., wreaths will be placed on the headstones throughout the cemetery of those who served in the Armed Forces. Two weeks before the Common Council voted to pay a $1 million settlement in a case mishandled by the city’s former corporation counsel Peekskill officials learned a second such lawsuit exists.
The city now faces the possibility of legal default in another federal lawsuit that could cost another million dollars – again without ever presenting a legal defense in court.
On Nov. 27, the Council voted 6-1 to pay $1 million plus attorney fees to settle with David Maldonado, who was injured in a car crash caused by former off-duty Peekskill police officer Jonathan Mosquera in September 2016. The city ..read more

Peekskill artists Carol Wax and John Gutierrez are having a banner season. Each recently had their artwork chosen in a contest run by the Peekskill Business Improvement District (BID) for the city of Peekskill’s new holiday banners. Half of the 150 banners hanging downtown are Wax’s design; the other half feature Gutierrez’s design.
Entering the banner contest was a natural choice for Wax, who has an annual tradition of designing winter holiday themed images.
Carol Wax creates images for solstice etchings every year.
