Originally planned to fly into SLC and then visit Grand Teton and Yellowstone NP's. Since the winter season came late and conditions aren't as great as we thought, we're now thinking of traveling south instead. We plan to backcountry camp in surrounding Nat'l Forests/Wildlife areas so lodging/campsites won't be an issue (although permits could be).
We're prepared for any type of weather, but would prefer somewhere a bit warmer. Any suggestions for what parks or areas we could visit? We were looking at either Great Basin and then SW Utah area, or Canyon Lands and Moab area. Any help is much ap ..read more

I'd be wanting to stay at least a few nights in some of the historic lodges like Old Faithful Inn and Jackson Lake. Want to do Going to the Sun Road. Considering a helicopter tour in Yellowstone. May book some campsites (is September still good for camping?). Want to do a lot of hiking (is the weather too risky in September for Glacier et al?).
Haven't been able to plan for a summer trip this year because I've been busy with school, but that's finally over and I'm just wondering if it's possible to do it this year rather than having to wait until Summer 2025.

I’m visiting Olympic National Park in early June, and I’m running into an issue with timing. We essentially have two full days there, staying outside Port Angeles. The three main things we want to hit are Hoh, Hurricane Ridge, and Rialto and/or Ruby beach. I know the deal with getting to the trailheads early early to avoid crowds and backed up traffic, and we are totally fine with early morning and drive times. The issue is looking at tides, the low tides for the days we are there are around 7am and like 8pm. Trying to figure out how to fit in the beach there at a time that it will actually b ..read more

Hi everyone. I'm looking for recommendations/ advice for a trip visiting various national/state parks across the US. I'd love to hear anything about locations I need to stop at, advice from others that have done this, or advice on gear/ clothing/housing/food/bathing.
Planning to take 2 weeks and leave from western New York. Lots of hiking in mind and would love to do some difficult hikes. Bringing my girlfriend and possibly my dog depending on how limiting bringing a dog might be. Going to purchase gear for this that l'll be able to use on future hikes/camping.
Thanks for any input!

I’m in Michigan, and I love doing landscape photography. Unsurprisingly, one of my favorite photographers is Ansel Adams. The three parks on my bucket list are Tetons, Yellowstone, and Glacier. Last year, my wife and I took 2.5 weeks and drove up to Acadia. While I loved that trip, I don’t want to be cooped up in my truck to go across the country again. For me, the logistics of this whole endeavor are a bit overwhelming. We tent camp, but flying with our camping gear would be prohibitive. As well as the photography gear I want to take. Our aim is for sometime in the next 2-3 years, so if anyo ..read more

I have 7 days, possibly 10 to see as many National Parks in the US as possible with 2 kids (13 and 16) in May or June.
NP we've seen already:
Everglades
Biscayne
Congaree
Smokey Mountains
Mammoth Cave
Shenandoah
Indiana Dunes
Gateway Arch
Hot Springs
Death Valley
Grand Canyon
Zion
Bryce Canyon
Canyonlands
Arches
Sequoia
I wouldn't mind doing Bryce or Arches again, but if we did those over, we wouldn't be close enough to do others we haven't done yet.
