A man is dead following a domestic incident in Coon Rapids early Wednesday. Law enforcement from Coon Rapids and the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office were called to a home on the 10300 block of Jay Street Northwest around 3:30 a.m. on a report of a domestic incident in which a person was injured, according to a spokesperson for the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office. A man with life-threatening injuries was brought to the hospital, where he later died, the sheriff’s office says. His identity and cause of death have not yet been released. Coon Rapids Police are searching for suspects in connection with a Friday night shooting at the Emma B. Howe YMCA. A 16-year-old boy was wounded in the gunfire but is expected to survive. “We heard gunshots boom, boom, boom, boom. Police say one person was shot Friday night at the YMCA in Coon Rapids. According to the Coon Rapids Police Department, officers responded to a report of gunfire just before 8 p.m. at 8950 Springbrook Drive. A male victim was found shot and was brought to a nearby hospital. Authorities have not released any information regarding the victim’s condition. For the second consecutive month, a winning lottery ticket worth more than $3 million was sold in Minnesota. Minnesota Lottery says a Lotto American ticket that won Wednesday’s $3.1 million jackpot was sold at Cub Foods in Coon Rapids. The lucky ticket-holder matched all six winning numbers — 7-12-17-22-52 and Star Ball No. 3 — to win the state’s fourth Lotto America jackpot. A man charged in the slaying of a Coon Rapids family earlier this year is now facing first-degree murder charges. Prosecutors had previously charged 37-year-old Alonzo Pierre Mingo with second-degree murder for the killings of 42-year-old Shannon Patricia Jungwirth, her husband, 39-year-old Mario Alberto Trejo Estrada, and her son, 20-year-old Jorge Alexander Reyes-Jungwirth. The Minnesota State High School League Adapted Floor Hockey tournament took over Coon Rapids High School on Friday and Saturday. Dozens of people were seen in the stands cheering on the teams. Coaches at the tournament say adaptive sports have been around since the 1980s but weren’t acknowledged by MSHSL until the 1990s.  The sport is for students in grades 7-12 who have a disability. Two more people — brothers from Minneapolis — have been charged in connection to the triple homicide last month in Coon Rapids. 31-year-old Demetrius Trenton Shumpert and 19-year-old Omari Malik Shumpert are each charged with three counts of second-degree murder. Allina Health announced Tuesday it plans to adjust the services offered at its Mercy Hospital campuses in Coon Rapids and Fridley. A Brooklyn Park man received a stayed sentence and time served after pleading guilty to having a gun on Coon Rapids High School’s property. 20-year-old Josiah Tababo Wesseh Jr. was sentenced to 364 days in Anoka County Jail. 355 of those days will be stayed for the duration of his two-year parole. That leaves Wesseh to serve nine days, but he has credit for nine days already served.
