Like many of you, I've done many thousands of shake n' bake PC bullets and have shot them in all kinds of handguns and rifles.
My 30 cal bullets will lead the gas port in my auto loading rifles, even with a gas check.
I'd like to make some .225 cal bullets but I want to push these faster and get much less or no leading on my BCG or ports.
I'm not sure if it would make a difference but I'd like to try using a powder gun to coat the little pills to get a thicker more even coat.
My plan is to take two aluminum 1/4" plates and drill holes the size of the gas check to stand up the boolits. Afte ..read more

Okay, say I worked up accurate loads for a .44 Special with the RCBS Keith using a powder coated boolit. If I were to then shoot a group with the same boolit conventionally lubrisized and another group with boolits tumble lubed with Lee Liquid Alox, should I expect the same size group -- and the same point of impact?
Has anyone compared ..read more

I’ve been reading about powder coating and will probably start this spring with 45 acp, may start shooting at a higher velocity. I’ve been shooting wheel weight bullets for years, and here’s my question - although I think the answer is obvious, I’d like to ask anyway:
I’ve always sized my bullets after casting, does anyone size after powder coating? I suppose not, it would take the powder coat off ..read more

First off I don’t know if this is exactly the right place to be posting this, I mean my question concerns powder coating but maybe it belongs in the shotgun forum. So mods if it’s the wrong place please Relocate it.
OK here goes. When I powder coat a boollet I do it for two reasons. Well really it’s only one reason but I guess you could call her two.
The first and primary reason I powder coat is it gives me the ability to push a boolet At a higher velocity then a non-powder coated bullet without leading The bore of whatever I am Shooting.
The second reason is to eliminate having to lube my boo ..read more

I have had good results with PC but have started heating the bullets before shake and bake. Seems that heating gets better results, not hot but very warm. Bullets seem to coat better when shaking and cure really smooth. Is this something you guys normally do and does it improve your coating ..read more

Hello out there, I just bought gear to reload 45 colt but can not find
COL for exact coated bullet I bought, Missouri hi tech coated 230gr
round nose bullets to load in 45 colt. I did buy factory Remington ammo
that is 250gr Lead R.N. that has a COL of 1.588.. The Lyman cast
bullet 4th edition has a 230gr cast bullet with groves, also
i am using unique powder Lyman shows 7.4 to 9.3 grains for
the 230gr bullet the COL is 1.575, But wit groves the
bullet would be longer should I just use the same data maybe
7.6 grains unique and COL of 1.575, just trying to be safe!!!
Thank you for reading my po ..read more

RE: MP HG#50 HBWC 38 or 357 mold

Did my first attempt at Hi-Tek coating some wadcutter cast bullets. The coating actually looks better than the picture.
Cast solids and some with the "two" hollow base configurations.
Noticed that with the dome style HB the coating is not coating the inside occasionally. Ironic is that the deep hollow base bullets are coating inside nicely.
Once I'm done testing to determine which of the (3) works best in my revolver I will no longer cast the other two variations....but in the meantime:
Been shaking a ..read more
