Falcons clamp down following first quarter tie Mia Contenza of Jefferson and Mickey Zheng of St. John duked it out at the foul line as their teams peppered a few field goals around them on the way to a 16-16 tie after one quarter of play on Saturday. After that, it was all Falcons as the Heralds were held to one more field goal ahead of the half. Jefferson would go on to win, 62-37. The Falcons (6-5, 3-3 CVC) were led by junior guard Tatum Bordeaux, who knocked down two three-pointers en route to 13 points (11 thru the first three quarters). Warriors sit atop CVC Lake Division at 6-0 The sure shooting of Edgewood (10-0, 6-0 CVC) put a halt to Madison’s 10-0 start to the season, 61-53, on Friday. But it did not begin or end as surely. The Warriors sat at 9-0, opened the game by missing their first eight shot attempts under the basket. An early lead was all Geneva (8-2, 3-2 CVC) would need to pave way for a 44-34 win over rival Perry (6-3, 3-3 CVC) on Friday. Seniors Brooke Richmond and Moharrah Jackson each put up five points in the quarter.
