Following the widespread protests against police brutality following the killing of George Floyd, London Breed the mayor of San Francisco announced an unprecedented citywide curfew on Sunday, May 31. In the next few days hundreds of thousands of dollars in police overtime would be spent enforcing this clear suppression of free speech to arrest a handful of peaceful protestors. The following Tuesday June 2, Democratic Socialists of America and other supporters demonstrated against the curfew with a sit-in. 27 demonstrators and a journalist were arrested.
