On Highway 138 An investigation continued this week into the cause of a two-car crash that killed five people on the Pearblossom (138) Highway in Littlerock. The crash was reported to the California Highway Patrol at 8:12 p.m. April 28 on the eastbound Pearblossom Highway at 106th Street East. At press time, three of the deceased were identified as Reynaldo Alvarado, 60; Emilio Dermedy, 24, and Pauline Martinez, 20. Shipped from China Authorities this week at the Los Angeles/Long Beach seaport complex recently seized hundreds of items–including toys and baby walkers–shipped from China that violated U.S. child safety standards. Among the seized items were 96 baby walkers, 216 autism balance chairs, 492 baby changing tables, 196 baby/kids step stools and 1,296 alphabet mystery box toys, said Jaime Ruiz of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). ID in fatal crash with big rig

Tuesday near Lancaster Authorities have identified a woman who was killed in a two-vehicle crash near Lancaster that left three other people injured. The crash was reported at about 7:25 a.m. Tuesday at state Route 138 and 90th Street West, according to the California Highway Patrol. Officers learned that a 2005 Toyota traveling southbound on 90th Street West collided with a 2015 Freightliner truck that was heading westbound on SR 138, CHP Officer Monique Mischeaux said. 2019 torture-murder of son The parents of a 4-year-old Palmdale boy were sentenced this week to potential life prison terms for the July 2019 torture-murder of their son. Jose Maria Cuatro Jr., 32, was sentenced to 32 years to life in prison, while Ursula Elaine Juarez, 30, received 22 years to life for Noah Cuatro's death, which was initially reported as a drowning.
