On Easter Sunday, I baptized three children who were confident in their salvation and wanted to identify with Christ. I’m Tony Pinkham, and I have been a pastor for over 40 years. Helping train young men in pastoral residencies has been a highlight for me. I enjoy passing on what I’ve learned about how to study and deliver God’s Word with His people. Partway through their training, I gave each pastoral resident an assignment that some found unnerving: “You must limit what you bring to the pulpit. You may have your Bible and one sheet of notes. On that single side write only your title, intro, main points, and conclusion.” More than one pastoral resident commented afterward, “I’ve never experienced anythi ..read more

This post concludes our "As the Lord Leads" series--the story of how Chris Schuman and Village Missions helped rural churches without a pastor in Canada. If you're new to this series, we invite you to start with the first installment, "A Single Woman Undaunted by Rural Ministry". For thirteen years, Chris Schuman traveled thousands of kilometers around Canada as she looked for potential VM fields and potential Village Missionaries. She spoke to many strangers, presenting the ministry of Village Missions. And wherever she was – at her mother’s home in Saskatoon or on the road – she wr ..read more

This Mother's Day insert is a shortened version of the post below. We welcome you to share, download, or print this as an encouragement to a godly woman in your life. I’ve included several flowers because of the surprising meanings behind their names, meanings that remind us of spiritual truths. Start with Carnations Carnations are considered “The Mother’s Day Flower” because they were the first flowers distributed at Mother’s Day events. The word carnation comes from the Latin word carnis, which means ..read more

A local greenhouse hires workers from Thailand. The owner is a Christian, and he organizes occasional activities for the workers that allow them to hear the gospel. So far, 12 have become believers, and up to 16 meet regularly. A Thai pastor comes bi-monthly to disciple them. The owner invited me to speak at their Easter event, and with an interpreter, I shared God’s salvation plan from creation to the cross. We pray that God will draw many more to himself through this ministry ..read more

Really Rural: Serving Where God Calls
Village Missions Blog

In this bulletin insert, which you can download or print by clicking the icon at left, Village Missionary Jeff Perry describes what it looks like to serve God wherever He calls. A Mistake & A Calling “Would you be willing to quit your current jobs, sell your home, move into a 30ft camper and move to Arkansas to shepherd our Shepherds?” Our answer to this surprising question was, “Wow! Ok Lord, after 17 years in northeast Kansas, we will do just that.” Within three months the house sold, we bought a camper, we ..read more
