Gran Turismo is now in theaters. I was among 10 other sound effects recordists to have recorded race car etc sounds for this movie. Torq, a division from Source Sound company (Charles Deenen) did the fantastic sound design work. My role was to record ins and outs of race cars and track ambience. The difficult parts were to try to squeeze my way into the pitt and get as close to the race cars for maximum isolation sounds and avoid noisy people plus PA speakers. The crew near Charlotte, North Carolina really likes sound which made it more fun to work on. I got to rig 4 Onboard channels in Ryan Tuerick’s Corolla GR drift car and 2 channels inside JR Todd’s Toyota Funny Car. At the same time I stood on the side capture External perspective sounds. iRacing.com hired me to record the sounds of this incredible LMP3 race car (Ligier JS P320). I am amazed at great this beast sounds and shocked at how fast and violent the ride is! TrewAudio.com asked me to try out and give my thoughts about their Myna IEM (in ear monitors). I was very impressed with the Universal Fit version (7506 version) that I ordered a Custom Version built from my ear impressions.
