Towson Parking and Transportation Services will not increase the frequency of the Core Campus shuttles despite students often experiencing overcrowding on the West Village route.
Pamela Mooney, director of Parking and Transportation, said the department tracks the ridership of every route. Although she said there is a noticeable increase in the number of riders at certain times, it does not persist for long enough to need more buses running during the peak.

Jac’ey Wynn-Ogunbode, a rising senior at Towson University, presented a policy memorandum focused on reducing gun trafficking via Interstate Highway 95 for the Moore-Miller Administration as part of her summer internship working for the Maryland Department of the Environment through the Maryland Public Service Scholars program.
Wynn-Ogunbode and her group spent 10 weeks preparing their memo, which they presented to Gov. Wes Moore at the State House in Annapolis.

Within days of committing to Towson volleyball in September 2021, freshman setter Maisie Jesse knew she wanted to get to campus as soon as possible. For Jesse, that meant graduating high school early and spending the spring semester with the team.

The Office of the Attorney General Thursday rejected the Maryland Higher Education Commission’s approval of Towson University’s proposed business analytics Ph.D. program, which the historically Black university Morgan State has claimed to be duplicative of its business administration Ph.D.

An offseason already full of twists and turns for Towson Men’s Basketball just got more windy, as guard Nendah Tarke signed with Towson, head coach Pat Skerry announced on Monday.
Tarke, a Maryland native, committed to Nicholls State on May 27 but de-committed just over a month later.

Towson University men’s basketball player Ryan Conway was arrested and indicted by a grand jury this week for allegedly raping a woman in June last year, court records show.
Conway’s name is not listed on the team’s roster as of Friday morning. He was arrested last month and indicted by a grand jury on Aug. 7 on eight counts, including second-degree rape, second-degree assault, and third-degree sex offense.

Towson Men’s Basketball has hired Coppin State’s John Auslander as an assistant coach, a source told The Towerlight.
Auslander takes over for Kevin Clark, who retired in May after 13 years under Head Coach Pat Skerry’s team.
Before coaching at Coppin for five years, Auslander was an assistant coach for the Maine Red Claws, a team in the NBA Developmental League and an affiliate of the Boston Celtics.

Mark Ginsberg will become Towson University’s 15th president, the University System of Maryland announced Wednesday.
Ginsberg will begin his tenure at Towson on Oct. 30, a press release said. He is leaving his position as provost and executive vice president of George Mason University, a public research university in Virginia.
Ginsberg was chosen by a University System search committee headed by Regent Ellen Fish. The presidential search started in February, following President Kim Schatzel’s departure from Towson that month.

On Sunday, July 23, the Towson Women’s Lacrosse team announced Kristen Carr as their new head coach. Carr replaced Sonia LaMonica who held the position for 13 years before leaving Towson in July to take on the head coaching position at the University of Virginia.

Morgan State University’s accusations that Towson University duplicated one of its academic programs has prompted the Maryland General Assembly to develop a workgroup that will study the Maryland Higher Education Commission’s degree approval process.
The historically Black university objected to Towson’s proposed business analytics Ph.D. program and, after its approval, Morgan State’s President David K. Wilson wrote to state lawmakers, Maryland Matters reported.
