Pyewacket and his tiny blep. In my 50 some years of having cats, I have never dealt with a cat with a urinary blockage. Until last weekend. Pyewacket is my first cat with a urinary blockage and what a journey it has been. After spending the weekend at the emergency vet and a night at our regular vet, Pyewacket came home. However, he is not completely out of the woods. We have a long road ahead to ensure that he stays healthy and does not have to deal with this issue again. Here is the story of Pyewacket’s urinary blockage, how started and what we are doing to help him. What Caused the Blockage ..read more

Cactus & Lily, The Gremlin Kittens It is hard to believe that it has been two years with the Gremlin Kittens! Two years ago, I trapped these two little kittens, along with their mom and another cat. It was Easter weekend, so I named the mom Easter and named the two kittens Lily and Cactus. The plan was to foster the kittens until they were old enough to move onto to their forever home. Well, we all know the saying about the best laid plans. And here we are, two years later and I am so happy that the plan didn’t go as I intended. Small Kittens, Big Adjustments Lily and Cactus have definitel ..read more

My happy place. Wow, this year has been flying by. One minute I was celebrating Christmas, the next minute it was Easter, and now, Summer Break is not far on my horizon. The next couple of months are going to be full of a lot of “end of the school year” activities. All of these activities will cause some slight disruptions in my clowder’s schedules, and we all know how cats feel about their schedules. Just thinking about how full my plate is going to be causes me to start to stress and we all know how our stress affects our cats. So, I have been making sure that when I start to feel overwhelme ..read more

Cactus, My Muse

Cactus, My Muse As I was sitting with fingers poised above the keyboard, waiting for inspiration for this article to strike, Cactus came out of nowhere, looked at me, gave me her signature meow and then left. I am going to take that as a sign that Cactus believes this week’s article should be about her. And why shouldn’t it be, especially being that according to the Cat Archetypes, Cactus is my Muse. She is the one cat that I have that walks through life unapologetically. She is who she is, and I can just accept it because she is not going to change. Bad Behavior? Before I realized that Cactus ..read more

Your Cat’s Job
The Dedicated Feline Enthusiast Blog

Those of us with cats know about their very “important” cat jobs. The biscuit maker, box inspector, alarm clock, food inspector, and ghost spotter to name a few. However, all jokes aside, did you know that your cat has an actual job, a purpose, in your life. That cute little ball of fluff did not just happen into your life. No, they came into your life for a reason. To serve a purpose. To help you in a way that you probably didn’t even realize you needed. So, what is your cat’s job? A Path of Purpose Almost a year ago, I was put in the path of Sylvie Sterling, a cat whisperer, intuitive heale ..read more

Our Scary Wildlife Encounter

A beloved and safe place. Four years ago, we bought our house on almost 6 wooded acres. It has absolute heaven for me. I love living among nature and sharing my home with all kinds of wildlife. Until that wildlife endangers my cats. Then, the wildlife needs to find a new place to live. Last summer, we had a sad encounter with a fox with distemper that was hanging around and threatened my cats. This past weekend, it was a mommy coyote and her puppies UNDER the Cat House! It was a very stressful 3 days of our scary wildlife encounter. Early Clues I discovered the mommy coyote on Saturday morning ..read more

Have you ever wondered just how your cat came into your life? Sure, you might know exactly how and when you found them. But have you ever thought about all the events that had to have happened in order for you and your cat to cross paths. The other night as Zazzles was snuggling me and purring me to sleep, I thought about exactly how he came into my life. I went back through the years and thought about everything that had to take place at precise moments in order for that moment of Zazzles sleeping peacefully beside me to happen. And I realized that my cats were sent to me for various reasons ..read more

Punishing Your Cats?

Lily is a happy cat. Over the past few weeks, I have been seeing a lot going around about punishing your cats. So much so, that it I started to think that maybe this was a topic that I needed to address. Do you punish your cats? SHOULD you punish your cats? And if so, how should you punish your cats? So many questions. Questions that bring up even more concerns. Especially with everything that I have learned about cats and how we affect their energy. And keeping in mind that the behaviors that you are trying to correct through punishment usually stem from an emotional or health issue. So, how ..read more

Bodie using crystal energy. Now the topic of energy healing may not be for everyone. Some may say that there is no way you can heal just through the transfer of energy. And that is ok. This article will resonate with those who are meant to read it. It is for those who would like to know more about energy healing and how this modality can work wonders with your cats. I have, personally, witnessed just how powerful energy healing can be. I have seen it work with Emmet and his GI mass. Using different modalities of energy healing, I have witnessed a major shift in the tensions between Bodie, Hemi ..read more

Emmet no longer has a GI mass. So, here we are with another article about my most handsome mini panther, Emmet. Over the past couple of years, I have written numerous articles about Emmet and all of his health “challenges”. From his potential diagnosis of FIP to his GI mass and potential cancer and finally, to his latest heart challenge. However, I am really excited to write this article about Emmet! After recently having an ultrasound done on him, I am beyond happy to report that Emmet does not have a mass in his GI tract anymore!
