Bookings are now open for British Wrestling’s 2nd Annual Officials and Referee Conference taking place on the 23rd April at the British Judo Olympic and Paralympic Centre in Walsall.
The aim of this year’s conference is teamwork, mastering the basics and how to use the BWA C-Mats Competition System. The conference is part of British Wrestling’s strategic ambition to develop the wrestling workforce to deliver the best combat sport experience in the UK.

On the 4th March, Celina and Sahara held our first Female-Only Open Mat in Birmingham as a part of the Birmingham 2022 Legacy Project. The event was specifically designed for females only, giving them a rare opportunity to experience wrestling from all walks of life and connect with one another in a safe and inclusive space. It was a culmination of the discussions had at our previous female-only event in December, where the barriers women face when it comes to participation in the sport of wrestling were highlighted.

British Wrestling has run its first post-pandemic coaches CPD course in the Strength and Conditioning for Combat Sports. We had a great turnout of 10 learners from around the country, from Scotland, Blackburn, Bradford and Derby.
The course was led by British Wrestling S&C Tutor Andreas Michaelas. Andreas currently lectures for the University of Central Lancashire on their Masters Degree programme in S&C and delivers anti-doping as a UKAD National Trainer.

British Wrestling, working with Sport England, has released support totalling over £120,000 to Community Wrestling Clubs around England through the Together Fund to assist in their vital work in their communities.
These clubs are all working towards similar goals in engaging with Low Social Economic Groups, Culturally Diverse Communities and supporting our goal to increase participation for women in our sport.
In 2021/22 British Wrestling distributed £60,000 to 37 clubs helping them to bounce back from the pandemic. This funding supported clubs to reopen and improve their sustainability and re ..read more

British Wrestling is pleased to release the GBR Eligibility Policy and Application Process for the 2023 Veteran World Championships. The event will be taking place in Loutraki, Greece between the 17th and 22nd October 2023.
Wrestlers interested in applying for consideration for selection should carefully read the eligibility policy and complete the electronic application form within the policy.
