I have a 2021 Max with the max tow package. I also have a boat and trailer combination between 8 and 8.5k lbs. I know a lot of guys run WDH's on campers to help with wind sway and what not, but do I really need one to tow the boat 45 minutes to the river and back on weekends? I understand that most vehicle manuals call for the WDH even when they are well overrated for the item being towed... Good morning, have been looking into purchasing a 2010 Expedition Eddie Bauer with the tow package to tow our food trailer (6k with everything in it) the only thing I don't see (and have been looking for confirmation) is the truck doesn't have the brake controller installed, but it looks like the 2010 only had the connection and I'll need to add an aftermarket controller. I'm ordering a 2017 EL Platinum. Mechanical Load-leveling rear suspension is listed as an option on the website (I'm surprised it's not included with the HD towing package, you would think that's a necessity). The dealer can't seem to find it on his ordering app, thinks it might not be available on the platinum model, maybe only King Ranch. Does anyone have this option? I have a 2022 Expedition, Timberline, without the Max Tow option. Has anyone had any luck installing a brake controller? The part specified by Ford for my 2022 does not fit (the controller didn't fit in the available spot)- the dealer tried to install and wasn't able to. After removing the blank from the dash where the controller goes, there wasn't any wires behind the blank, either. How do I know if my Andersen WDH was setup properly? My 2019 Expy Max, with HD tow, is pulling an Apex 256BHS (5720lb dry weight). Have been to the CAT scales multiple times. Fully loaded, I'm within all the Ford specs for towing, payload, tongue, GVWR, etc. Granted, I am near the max on some of them. It pulls fine and stops fine.
