Can my 2023 Forester Wilderness tow a travel trailer with trailer brakes and a Dry Weight of 2675 lbs across the USA? I wold not haul water around with me, but clothing and some food. But that would for sure not ad up to 300 lbs to come cloth to the tow rating of 3000 lbs of my vehicle. But is it realistic to tow such a trailer for longer trips? I hope you can help me to decide if I should buy this trailer, or not ..read more

Hello there I have a very nice 2017 with approx 70k miles on it. I'd like to keep it going as long as possible. I'm interested in getting an O'Day Mariner Sailboat. It's 1300 lbs roughly + trailer weight. I would like to drive up the coast from here (Portland Maine) about 80 miles to Rockland Maine and put the boat in the water up there somewhat regularly (there's amazing sailing there). It's mostly flat or rolling hills, no big climbs between here and there. My friend who is an... 2017 Towing 1300 lb boat + trailer ..read more

2019 - Base - Teardrop trailer questions?

I’m looking at purchasing a teardrop trailer, either the bushwhacker 10HD or the 12SK. I want to know if a base model 2019 Subaru Forester can safely tow these trailers. Gross weight on each trailer is 2200-2380 respectively. Each trailer has a brake system. I’m new to towing so I want to know if a forester could safely tow either model, or if I need to upgrade to a wilderness or even an outback. Any advice would be greatly appreciated ..read more

My initial search didn't turn up any posts that had a similar situation. I have installed a Draw-Tite 76182 Class III Max-Frame Trailer Hitch with 2" Receiver and looking to rent a U-Haul Motorcycle Trailer (No Brakes) to bring back a Honda Shadow (628 lbs). Total weight (trailer and load) is 1428lbs give or take... Has anyone used this trailer or done something comparable with a '15 CVT Foz? Thanks ..read more

I bought a 2023 Wilderness a little over a year ago and I'm thinking of adding a hitch and buying a bass boat. I've never owned a boat and am somewhat anxious about starting now. I am learning everything I can concerning this. I spoke to a few customer reps at Bass Pro last weekend and they did not believe I'd have a problem towing a 2500lb boat to include trailer. I'd like to reach out and hear from other Subaru Forester WildKat owners that are towing a bass boat. Thank you ..read more

2019 - Sport - Hitch Step Juts Out (picture) - safe to step on?

Hello, Is it a problem if the hitch step juts out a little? Most of the male end sits snuggly in the receiver. It juts out a little because this is where it needs to sit for the holes, where you insert the hitch pin, can align. I am using it as a step to reach what’s inside a car top box when we travel and for bumper protection when it’s parked on a street. So my question is is it solid enough to stand on if it juts out a little? Thank you ..read more

2024 - Wilderness - Hitch Lock for OEM Hitch?

Hi everyone, I have tried multiple times with multiple Curt hitch locks I have had in the past work with my Curt aftermarket installed hitch to use with OEM hitch on my 2024 FW. Apparently I am about 1 centimeter at least short to having the entire pin come through to be able to lock. Anyone else have this issue and have a preferred stainless steel hitch lock work or am I just losing my mind (which is also an option) as I thought the width is standard but seems like the OEM is a tad wider... 2024 - Wilderness - Hitch Lock for OEM Hitch ..read more
