Help Getting Boat on EZLoader Trailer

I usually don’t have trouble driving my boat up onto the trailer. I leave the forward bunks about 10 inches out of the water, and that seems to do the trick. However, sometimes I am a complete disaster. Today, for instance, I had the trailer too deep in the water, and I actually ended up having to jump into the lake to try to push the boat onto the trailer and away from adjacent boats with engines running. What is the general rule on the depth of the trailer? Is too deep a common... Read more ..read more

Best hitch protector?

I’m looking to thwart off the thieves a little. My rig is small 15 ft aluminum on a trailer that they would love to steal for jets skis, dirt bikes etc. I have to leave my car and trailer in sometimes desolate launch sites. I already use a tire lock. But I’d like something to protect the ball from being uncoupled while it’s hitched to the car in the parking area. I’d like this same system to protect anyone from hooking up to the coupler while the trailer is parked alone at say a hotel... Read more ..read more

Hopefully it’s just normal but I wanted to check ..read more

Winch replacement suggestions

I am going to replace the winch on my trailer, looking for suggestions (brand) and verification of the weight. Total weight of boat, motor, etc. is 1100 lbs., rounding to 1500 to account for tackle boxes, etc. My understanding is you take the total weight, divide by 2 for the winch capacity. If that is correct I need a winch with a minimum pull of 750 lbs. so I would get a 1,000 lb. winch to be on the safe side. Am I looking at this right or am I totally out in left field on this? Also, do... Read more ..read more

Hi all, New to me trailer. Sorry in advance for not knowing all the correct terminology. I'm trying to install a new receiver. But I am stuck in the middle of tear down. Not sure what to do next. This is a double axle trailer with a 19' aluminum starcraft on top. I'm pretty sure I'm under the legal limit for trailer brakes. I'd like to remove the old stuff and put on a new hitch? Thanks. Oh, is this winch a museum piece or part of tonight's garbage? Not sure if it works... Read more ..read more

Hi All, I am a newbie and thinking of purchasing either a Sea Ray 240 Sundancer or a Bayliner 245 SB Cruiser. Both are just under 25ft....24.5ft to be exact. Both boats weigh about 5,300 Lbs. My truck a 2006 Nissan Frontier Nismo is rated to tow just 6,500lbs max. would a trailer put me over my towing limit? Also, would it be a nightmare to try and launch a 24ft boat a a local boat ramp? it is very wide and long, 8ft deep minimum dredge. thanks everyone. I would not like the costs of... Decifering faded VIN numbers.

You may have a faded VIN # on your trailer which makes it impossible to read and makes it hard to register the trailer. I just read this about the trick of putting some charcoal powder on your finger and lightly wiping it over the vin sticker. Because the VIn sticker is typed on the foil or paper the type writer supposedly leaves a slight indentation on there and the charcoal powder makes the indentations visible. I'll try tomorrow ..read more
