Hello all! I have a 2014 Tundra TRD Off-Road 4x4 SR5 Double Cab. The truck has a tow/haul button on the inside, and a receiver hitch with electrical connector. I want to get a dump trailer. The factory window sticker is faded and worn over the options so I can't check that. I have called Toyota directly to ask, and they said I do not have the tow package and it is rated to tow up to 7900 pounds To double check I have called my local Toyota dealership and they said they don't know, but... Having trouble with 2024 Tundra Platinum Trailer Back up Guidance - put trailer into system/save, calibrate, works fine in both straight line and normal back up. Arrows showing path of trailer, boxes come up on screen etc. System is not saving the calibration information when I park the truck and turn ignition off. The next time I try to use system, I toggle the back up guidance switch and system says"no truck detected" and takes me thru the six calibration steps. Manual says calibration... trailer and hauling ..read more

WD Hitch Recommendation for a 2023 1794 with auto level and sway control

Hi All, I'm in my second Tundra which is a 2023 1794 6.5' Bed (not hybrid). Currently looking to get a travel trailer and have a question regarding the type and setup of a Weight Distribution hitch. My truck has auto leveling and anti-sway control. Should I get a WD that also has sway control? I'm concerned that the truck's built in sway control and the hitch's may fight each other or otherwise not work optimally. In setting up my WD hitch, my assumption is that I first setup the hitch... We are considering buying a portable ac unit for our camper to assist the rooftop ac. We have a 13,500 BTU unit that came with the camper. It has always struggled in the south Mississippi heat. Has anyone else tried this and what were your results? Thanks ..read more

Shows all '14 model trucks with the 5.7L have the tow package. So what all is included? For some reason I don't see anything in the booklet that spells it out for me. I must be thick headed. Looking at my Tacoma tow package my guess is: *high output alternator *bigger battery *transmission & oil cooler *transmission temp gauge??? *receiver hitch *7-pin connector *brake controller pre-wire Am I missing anything? thanks ..read more

Hello all I am purchasing a 2007 Tundra TRD SR5 4x4 Quad Cab and have a question about towing heavy loads. I purchased the Tundra because I have heard nothing but great things about it. My question in I will be hauling 2 horses on a regular basis which should be no problem but on occasion I might haul 4 horses. With trailer and tack will put me right at 10,000 pounds. I would only be hauling them locally for trail riding with friends and family. Has anyone hauled any loads this heavy? Any... Hauling Horses ..read more

RPM higher than normal while towing

I have a 2012 Toyota Tundra SR5 TRD with 115,500 mile and have been towing an RV trailer my last trip I noticed my RPM's were approximately 500-1000rpm higher but yet the same exact speed. I have found that when I'm traveling 55 - 60mph my RPM are consistently at 1400 - 1800. This past trip same speed, I'm now seeing 1800 to 2400rpm. I'm not a mechanic but have always have the fluids check every 5000 miles. Is my concern warranted? TYIA Norm ..read more

I've torched my OEM pads and rotors on my '15 platinum towing a 6200lbs trailer up and down the the mountains here in Colorado and I'm looking for some recommendations on something that will last me a bit longer than 48K miles. I run a brake controller on the trailer which works great, but the long down hills and steep roads have done a number so I'm replacing them. What have you guys gone to and had success with? Thanks ..read more

From F350 Diesel to Gen 3 Tundra????

I lived in Southern California where there are 5000' mountains and opted for a 2015 F350 Diesel with 400hp/825t. It is rated at 38,000 towing capacity. A real brute and truly a super duty truck. But now I've moved to the South and we don't have mountains like that here and I'd like to get a smaller truck that is more comfortable for every day driving without a trailer. I've owned a Gen 1 Tundra and a Tacoma. Both were great vehicles. So now I'm back looking at a Gen 3 Tundra and the highest... From F350 Diesel to Gen 3 Tundra ..read more

New tundra or no

Wasn’t sure if I should be here or the ’22 up’ thread or somewhere else. Feel free to move if I should be not here. 2013 tundra is my current truck. Great truck… can’t say too much bad about it. One thing I do dislike about the truck is that it can’t take the weight. In about 50% of the miles I drive, I’m towing something. One of my trailers is my RV. It’s a front kitchen so the standard 8 to 10% trailer weight on the hitch is really closer to 11%. It’s a tag-along not a fifth wheel. When... New tundra or no ..read more
