Setting up 2006 Sienna for towing 16 ft Airstream

I have a 2006 Sienna, no towing package. I always assumed the 'towing package' was just fancy wording for a trailer hitch and wiring harness, but looking into it I find there's things like a larger radiator, transmission cooling, etc. I've been thinking of buying a little 16 ft Airstream (weight 2855lbs) and towing it with the Sienna. I figured I'd just need to get a trailer hitch and wiring harness installed, but now I wonder if the plan is even feasible. Could the Sienna handle it... 2015 XLE with travel trailer

We are looking at travel trailers that we can tow with our van. The options are limited since the trailer needs to hold 4 people including my two daughters, who won't share a bed. We are looking at a Coachman Clipper 17CBH since it has bunk beads and weighs around 2700 lbs dry. Do you think that my Sienna will struggle to tow a trailer this size? I know that I need to install a hitch, wiring, trailer brake controller, and rear airbags. Is there anything that I am missing to get it ready for... 2015 XLE with travel trailer ..read more

DrawTite Trailer Hitch question

We are adding a trailer hitch primarily to carry bikes to our 2024 Sienna. Can anyone comment on the DrawTite hidden hitch? Specifically the tongue weight/strength as we will have a heavy awkward bike rack and bikes or a hitch haul with all our tailgate stuff on it. Of note we had a Curt hitch on our 2022 Sienna but it decreased ground clearance too much and we scraped upon leaving too many parking lots. Thanks ..read more

Opinions on best hitches for 2001 CE. Or hitches for other vehicles which magically fit the 2001 Sienna. Am aware of the Curt 13511, and they seem to have cornered the market. Am looking to fill the need with a small modification to another more abundant hitch possibly for less ..read more

Towing with a 3.3 or a 3.5 litre engine - any noticeable difference?

We are in the market for a newer Sienna from our current 1998 LE model. I went and tested a 2011 Sienna and was presently surprised by the punch the engine had. I next tested a 2006 model and found it had a lot less punch. If we look at the engines, First Gen Sienna : 3 litre, 210 hp, 220 torque Second Gen (1): 3.3 litre, 230 hp (downgraded by test method to 215) and 242 torque (downgraded to 230) Second Gen (2): 3.5 litre, 266, 248 We previously towed our Bigfoot 17 (guessing all in... Tongue weight

Hello, My towing vehicle is 2015 Sienna XLE(FWD), and I have a question about tongue weight. It looks like the maximum tongue weight for Sienna is 350lbs. Even I installed the trailer hitch which has max tow rating of 525lbs, I think my maximum tongue weight is still 350lbs. I’m going to tow Jayco 154BH which has 295 hitch weight. I’m going to put Anderson WDH (60lbs). Assuming there is a propane tank and battery on the trailer tongue, tongue weight would be more than 350lbs. Is it... Tongue weight ..read more

Towing with Hybrid Sienna

I am in the market of buying a hybrid Sienna (2021-2024). I am looking for information on people's experience towing with this van. I have a small fiberglass camping trailer. Full of stuff it weighs 2,000 LBS at the most. It has no trailer brakes. My biggest concern is if the hybrid Sienna will be able to provide enough engine braking going down steep mountain grades. Currently I tow it with a 2008 Odyssey. Braking power is fine. I go slow down the grades, and often downshift to... Towing with Hybrid Sienna ..read more

http://www.etrailer.com/Vehicle-Suspension/Toyota/Sienna/2011/CSS-1195R.html?vehicleid=20118664 On our trip from the Bay Area to San Diego, my Sienna had some serious rear sag. We had 4 adults, a baby, dog, we each had heavy luggage...yes even the baby, and on a tow hitch a bike rack with a Schwinn Cruiser. A heavy load indeed. Because of the sag, I got to looking for some solutions and came across Coil SumoSprings. It's super simple to install and there's no maintenance or... 2007-2010s need "tow package" to tow 3500 pound. But 2004-2006s don't. Why?

I'm aware that the oil cooler line is the main difference between tow package vs non-tow package in the 2007-2010 Siennas. A big difference in towing potential: 3500 pounds vs something like 1500 pounds. But the 2004-2006s do not have an oil cooler line, yet they're rated to tow 3500 pounds. What's up with that?? I couldn't find a definitive answer in the towing & hauling section ..read more

2022 Hybrid - experience with towing

I have a 2022 Sienna XLE AWD hybrid that I would like to use to tow my small trailer. I previously towed this trailer with my 2008 Sienna that had airbags to get it off the ground so it would not drag the hitch. It did a fantastic job of towing the trailer and no dragging. But I am planning a big 4000 mile trip in the Spring and it is time to see if it is logical to use the new Sienna for this trip. I have a hitch and brake controller already installed. But when the shop got to the point... 2022 Hybrid - experience with towing ..read more
