Long time lurker, first time poster. Not to beat a dead horse (get it?), I know several of these are posted on the regular. But there's tons of numbers to consider, and its always better to be safe than sorry. I'm still learning! That being said, have any of you towed a horse trailer with your Durangos? We would be well under the towing capacity, payload capacity, etc. I just recently downgraded from a 2014 2500HD Silverado, with a large aluminum gooseneck horse trailer. I moved to... Camper Towing advice needed!

I have a 2022 Durango R/T AWD 5.7L v8 Hemi with Tow IV package and I have a weight distribution hitch. I am looking to buy a camper for our family of 7, so I settled on a 2006 captiva 280ex (this type of model works because it has lots of bunks, but then to save on length the queen is a small slide out). I’m getting conflicting info from my online searches on the towing capacity rules. The max tow capacity of my vehicle is 7200, but I see some are saying you can only use up to 80% of that... Tow Wiring

Totally botched my last thread so just trying to start a fresh post. I thought I had fixed the wiring issue, but I was wrong. My 14 Durango already had a capped tow wiring connector tucked behind the back bumper near the frame. It looked like a 7pin, at least that’s my guess. I bought a curt towhitch, which also came with what I assume is a 7pin to 4pin adaptor, which I pictured. It... Tow Wiring ..read more

Hello. I am brand new to this forum. We just purchased a 2023 durango rt with the plus package. I was told that it had load leveling since I needed it for pulling my boat. I do not see it listed on the window sticker. They assured me that I have it but just hooked up my boat, drove it around town, and it is still sagging. It is the RT Plus. It has the trailer hitch and the braking control but it is not the tow n go package. Can I tell by looking at the shocks or something? Thanks... load leveling ..read more

I'm getting ready to tow my old car (a '13 Kia Optima, weight 3,400lbs.) about 300 miles after selling to my son-in-law. I have the tow package but need to get the ball. Has anyone here used a UHaul tow dolly before? Any issues? I've never towed anything in my life so any useful hints about what accessories I might need like magnetic lights, tow hitch drop, ect. would be really appreciated ..read more

Another tongue weight question for a motorcycle hitch hauler

Has anyone used a hitch hauler for a motorcycle on an OEM hitch that was installed as an aftermarket device? AND it was more than the 350 pound reduced tongue rating? Background: 2120 Crew 3.6 AWD and the VIN shows it does not have a factory tow package. Aftermarket install of OEM hitch and bumper with the factory pass through cut-out. I've read the owner's manual and forum posts saying tow/tongue rating drops to 3500/350. (lack of a leveling package, trans cooler, etc.)... I recently bought a hitch receiver with no bolts to it, I was wondering if I can just drop by home depot and buy some aftermarket ones and, if so, what size? Or do I have to use the Mopar OEM ones? Thanks ..read more
