This was my first trip towing with my Gen3 Frontier. My Gen2 was getting about 9 mpg. The Gen3 got about 11.5 mpg towing the same trailer, which is about 4k lbs. This trip was over fairly level ground.
The biggest difference between the Gen2 and the Gen3 (which has Tow Mode) was that the Gen3 did NOT need any help maintaining speed with the cruise control set at 65 mph. The Gen2 always needed help from me going up even slight grades (either downshifting or giving more gas or just taking...

So, I have another thread about disconnecting the trailer electrical, but just while poking around, I noticed that there is a constant 4v on the trailer brake pin - engine running or not.
I do NOT have the cross-wired tow connector issue (I get the proper voltage on the 12V line when vehicle is running).
Any ideas? I am thinking this could also be related to my parasitic battery drain ..read more

My 2019 Pro4X still suffers from a parasitic drain which will COMPLETELY drain the battery if left long enough. I was gone for a month and my trickle charger connector got knocked off and after 1 month the battery was dead - measured about 2v. As far as I can tell, this has been from day 1 but is not noticeable when driven daily. Even after 2-3 days sitting, the battery is typically down to 12.2 volts. Still turns over/starts great even at that level, but this problem just nags at me. I...

Just purchased a 19 foot 3000 lb travel trailer. wanting to purchase a Frontier. do I need to specifically hold out for one with a tow package ( tow haul ) button inside ? does that change shift patterns to help engine / transmission ?
Or can I simply purchase any Frontier as long as it has a good class IV receiver? I do plan on putting several thousand miles per year towing ..read more

I pull a small trailer but I dont have a spot to hook the safety chains. I noticed under the bumber that there are two slots on either side of where the tow ball is. Does anyone know what size shackles to get that fit in those spaces under the bumper? Is there another way to hook up safety chains from the trailer ..read more

Hi all,
New member here. Looking forward to getting feedback from the experts on all things Frontier.
I know towing questions have been asked many times, but I am looking for feedback that is specific to Colorado. The Frontier can handle flat land towing easily. Colorado is a different beast, though.
I currently own a 2019 Pro 4x. Just bought a Casita travel trailer. Dry weight = 2500; GVWR = 3000: Hitch (tongue) = 350.
I will be towing mostly in Colorado, probably 5 - 6 times per year...

Just wanted to add a few pictures of my Redarc install.
Chose to install my Redarc control box to the bar that is below the steering and behind that kick panel.
Took a piece of 3/32" steel, trimmed it to width of box, then drilled it. Put an upward bend in plate and oriented it for ease of disconnecting box from harness.
Control knob was mounted in unused switch plate to the lower left of steering wheel.
Keep in focus that orientation of switch knob needs to keep in orientation to the way...

I'd post this on the offroad forum but my truck is a 2WD that does some mild off road for hunting and dry camping...vast majority of the time it's on road and is our tow vehicle...2 motivations for this rear swap: 1) more gear for towing and 2) e-locker to avoid the traction control.
I have a 2015 Frontier SV (2WD 4.0L auto). Came with C200K rear axle with a 3.14:1 ratio. Tows my ~2,500 lbs camper fine unless your going through Oklahoma and Texas with a stiff headwind. Now I have a car...

Hi, I am new to this forum. Reason I joined is because I tried to help a friend with his Frontier. The truck is dead in a mall parking lot due to a dead alternator. We tried to flat tow it to my house nearby to work on it. For some reason, the truck only has a towing hoop/bracket on the passenger side behind the front bumper. And my friend fashioned something on it to hook it onto 3-foot-long self-made tow bar. I thought it was a FWD and put it in neutral. We went extremely slowly for no...
