We are finally getting ready to upgrade our tow vehicle. If the cab sticker shows a Rear GAWR of 9900, how much pin weight can I safely get away with on a new fifth wheel toy-hauler? Its hard to trust the dealer or the advertised weights because of prior experience with sales pitch BS. Especially from Fun Town (not saying which one) sales people. I doubt most tow anything ..read more

While I don't have the trailer at the moment as it's had a few issues already. Doesn't seem like the Dealer did a very good job during the inspection. We've already taken it around 3,000 miles. Tows great, might add a sway control hitch but haven't had any issues even in heavy wind areas. Attached Thumbnails   ..read more

We have an older Wildwood (2004) and we always have issues getting the coupler on the hitch. We were thinking of replacing the couple latch but can’t find a latch replacement for a 2 5/16 ball. Do they make these or should we just replace the ball with a 2” ball? We are new to all of this so we appreciate any suggestions ..read more

CAT scale accuracy?

I read through a bunch of threads on interpreting the CAT scale results but I still have some questions about my CAT scale weight, see attached. I'm towing with a 2020 RAM 1500 with a payload capacity of 1756. I have actually weighed everything we put into the RV so I know I have about 700lbs of personal effects in the trailer for a week of camping, that includes battery, propane, etc. I did remove the bedroom steps and screen door, maybe 60lbs total. And I used my SureLine scale and my tongue weight is about 680lbs. The dry weight of the TT is 5846lbs, as listed on the door frame. I made su ..read more

Hotshots secret oil anyone try it

I didn’t want to start an oil war. I know some say additives are snake oil waste of money. I always go back and forth. I worked part time at oriellys and had people swear by different brands. Cancel injectors because SeaFoam fixed problems. Had people try different products but not solve issues. I love saving money and dealership where I bought my truck will change oil for $50 since I bought truck from them. Heck I can barely buy oil for $50. That said getting ready in June for 25 day mostly pulling in Rockies camping trip. I didn’t feel good about $50 oil change guess I could ask brand of oil ..read more

Hey, new Forest River E-Pro owner, having decided to "go back to my roots with a pull behind after last 20 years of owning Class C's. With kids gone I decided driving a "house" down the road wasn't really necessary anymore. Very happy with the quality and ease of use of the E Pro, just what the doctor ordered! But I was immedeatly reminded of the joys of white knuckle driving on highways/bad roads with a lightweight and bouncy trailer. Was going to buy one of the load leveller hitches but then discovered another option. Company called Base Air out of Australia manufactures an air bag supplemen ..read more

Tow vehicle tire wear question

Hi all. Took my 2019 F350 in for inspection and found that of the four tires, two were in good shape, one was ok, and the last was looking worn. Even that most worn one was fine for driving, so not terrible, but I was surprised. I have 35k on the truck, most of it towing the fiver, and the wear patterns on the tires were all fine - no cupping, no sides worn down, nothing uneven. It was just that two of the tires we noticeably more worn than the other two. I have had them rotated every year since we bought the truck. So, question is... what would cause this? These are the original GY Wrangler ..read more

Getting ready to test fit the tow bar from or FR3 to our Chevy Colorado Trail Boss. The is about a 6" difference in height between the connection points on the vehicles. I know I need a drop hitch receiver. Is 6" too much. Does the drop hitch receiver put extra stress on the Motor Home's hitch? Thanks in advance for everyone's advice. Gary ..read more

20" wheels for towing?

I'm shopping for a new TV. Likely a 3/4 ton. Chevy's "Custom" trim comes equipped with 20" wheels only. Are 20" wheels okay for towing mid-size travel trailers? Does the tire size make a difference? ... would appreciate your thoughts and comments. I'm not concerned about MPG, and there won't be any off-road driving. I'm an old-fashioned thinker and would opt for 17" rims. Maybe I've fallen behind the times - again ..read more
