Spare tire

I recently removed my spare tire to make room for some thing else and I am not at my permanent location to put it in a new home. It looks like there’s enough clearance to put it in the truck bed while I tow but I don’t want to do something stupid. I took a couple of pictures and I would love to hear thoughts from people smarter than me. Thanks for any advice or stories! Meagan Attached Thumbnails     ..read more

Just a reminder for new owners that you should never ride in the back of a trailer or fifth wheel while it’s being towed. Just read about a poor woman who fell out the door of a airstream today while on her way to see the eclipse ..read more

I'm towing my Keystone Mini with 2021 Ranger. The Minis' empty weight is 3300#. Max weight is 4400#. The Ranger can tow 7500# ,with a payload capacity of 1650#. I bought the camper used and it came with a 10000# WDH.Is this hitch too heavy-duty to use . I've seen videos where this can cause frame damage. The 2021 Ford towing guide says no WDH is needed. Any ideas ..read more

Towing TT without a WDH

Towed home from KC on the new Bulletproof hitch and ball, no WDH. What we found was as expected, no sway, comfortable ride, no noise from trunnion bars on the A frame pads. (That usually occurs after a glaze of rust forms over the exposed steel.) However, what I had forgotten from back in the day when we used to do this with our F350, Dually, CC, LB, 7.3 Powerstroke, DI, Wastegate turbo is the leverage seesaw action over dips and bumps. The RAM 3500 towing the 25RDS on the ball when encountering dips or significant bumps at interstate speed will ride like a spring mounted rocking horse. Greate ..read more

Currently have a 2013 Silverado 1500 extended cab 6.5 ft lg.bed, pulling a 2022 Bullet 30ft long. Bumper pull. Had trouble with the truck swaying until I got 4 new 10 ply tires. Now I'm looking at a 2020 GMC Sierra 2500 crew cab, 8 ft bed. Would the extra length make the truck sway more? I'm not real good at physics. Thanks ..read more

Trailer A Frame to Gooseneck Conversion

Stumbled across this new outfit in Texas that makes removable gooseneck conversions for travel trailer A Frames to a Gooseneck. Does anyone have experience with this product? https://www.bpconversions.com Also, let's discuss the pros & cons. PROS: Easier and smoother towing as long as you're already gooseneck capable. CONS: What I see right off is that my bed will now be open and those items that use to travel dry are now exposed. The trailer length is suddenly 8ft longer which can be a problem in many National Parks with 30 ft LOA restrictions ..read more

Passport too front-heavy

Hello all, My 2007 Passport had had the rear slide/bed removed and the opening boarded up when I bought it. It sits very front-heavy, and also seems to sit high. Hitch height is about 26" when it's hitched up level. Preparing to replace the (original) suspension and (old) tires, and adding an Andersen hitch, prior to summer trips. I tow with tanks empty and very, very little cargo. Nothing on the tongue except the two 20-lb propane tanks. It rides pretty stable without too much wind sway on current short trips. Can it get it a little less tongue-heavy when I change the suspension? Can a TT be ..read more
