Cross chaining on a 2x11 is irrelevant, the system is designed to run all 11 cogs in the big ring. Assuming the chain is long enough and the gears correctly set up, you'll get all cogs with no issues. The only one to avoid is small-small. Some electronic gear systems specifically prevent you selecting that gear when in normal riding mode, it'll only permit it in adjustment mode. But big-big is fine.
And yet my Di2, in synchro shift mode, prevents this from occuring. Statistics: Posted by gxaustin — 28 Apr 2024, 6:42pm ..read more

On the road • Re: What should Active Travel money be used for?

Near where I live, Nottingham City Council are planning a new cycle bridge over the River Trent, using active travel money from the Transforming Cities Programme, at an approx cost of £12m: https://www.transportnottingham.com/pro ... an-bridge/ Whenever this is mentioned in the local press or on social media, there are lots of comments saying that the money should be spent on filling in potholes or some other use of the money. However, the money is ring-fenced and can only be spent on the project to which it has been allocated. Statistics: Posted by TrevA — 28 Apr 2024, 6:30pm ..read more

Looking for local knowledge. There is supposed to be a 24 hour McD opening in Buxton on the old Aldi site by the Railway station. Is it actually open yet? if it is open, is it open to foot traffic or just takeaway by car in the wee small hours. I'm likely to be passing through Buxton around 3am on a ride at the end of June. I'll be on my way to Blackpool to visit my brother. I did the same ride last year (in August) but gave up at Buxton as it had been the hottest day of the year and then cruelly drizzled for the hour before Buxton. I arrived at the station hoping there would be some vending ..read more

Hello! New poster here. Does anyone know what size bearing I need for a cube peleton 2010? I've tried Google, but no joy. Thanks! You could extract the bearing and take it to your LBS? Statistics: Posted by gxaustin — 28 Apr 2024, 6:11pm ..read more

@jdsk They’ve not long been busted doing a similar thing with AstroTurfy anti-ULEZ groups Oh yes. And this argument needs to be won both on the evidence of effects and by changing other people's views. And many of those other people will sometimes drive cars. Does anyone know … ? • Re: Hearing aids
It's the NHS's job to treat my heart as well, but I'm still waiting for the operation I was offered 11 years ago.
I have NHS hearing aids, provided through Specsavers. They are bluetooth operated and are brilliant for listening to podcasts. Essentially my high frequency perception has diminished with age (even though I have always tried to avoid loud noises). I do find the wind noise annoying so I don't wear hearing aids when riding. I can still hear traffic because the frequencies are towards the low end of the scale. I made an appointment with the nurse at my medical centr ..read more

Does anyone know … ? • Re: 27.2mm clamp

I searched for such a clamp for years and finally got somewhere by searching for: 'seat post drop prevent clamp locker 27.2 height marker' This came up with the page below. I bought a double clamp which clamps around the frame (replacing the existing clamp) and clamps the seat post too. You can get single clamps which make handy saddle height markers if you need to remove the seatpost for travel. Avoid plastic or 3D printed clamps - I've tried them and they are hopeless. Go for good old aluminium. https://www.google.com/search?rlz=1C1WE ... 1.35&udm=2 Statistics: Posted by gxaustin — 28 ..read more
