Thank you to all who submitted haibun for consideration for the HNA 2023 Haibun Film Festival.  Judges Jim Kacian and Jennifer Hambrick selected haibun from the submission pool and sent them to Moving Poems, which partnered with us on this venture.  Those poems were submitted to filmmakers for consideration, resulting in 9 films.  Some of the poems submitted to Moving Poems did not become films, and some filmmakers decided to make a film on the same haibun. The Tanka Society of America is pleased to sponsor its sixth tanka conference, to be held in person on Monday, July 3, 2023 in Cincinnati, Ohio at the historic Mercantile Library, with accommodations at the nearby Netherland Plaza Hotel. “Tanka Monday 2023” will take place immediately after the Haiku North America conference, with a variety of speakers, readers, performers, and other activities. HNA 2023 Registration is now open! $220 - for all presentations, Wednesday through Sunday ​Single Day Registrations are also available, as well as additional pre- and post-conference excursions. 2021 HNA Anthology Submission Deadline 11/20/2021

If you attended (actually attended, not just registered for) the 2021 Haiku North America conference on Zoom, you are entitled to submit up to four individual haiku/senryu (minimum of three required), of which one will be chosen for the 2021 HNA anthology.  In addition, you may also submit a rengay, a haibun, and up to two tan-renga written during the conference. Please check with your writing partner so each piece is submitted only once (but don’t worry about this if you can’t confirm—we’ll sort it out). The first virtual HNA is a wrap, with a three days of amazing presentations, panels, and workshops, plus special kick off events - the beginning haiku workshop on Saturday, October 9th, and the 30th Anniversary Celebration on Thursday night.  Much thanks to Terry Ann Carter and Lynne Jambor and their committee for all they did to make this conference run smoothly.
