Hi All! I've run a couple of fb ads and they've gone okay. But I've been looking at Amazon ads, my ebook and paperback are there, and wondered if anyone had any experience running a decent ad there. I would love any insight as I have googled this to death and there is just so much information out there.
YA fantasy, debut novel, about 30 reviews on goodreads, if that helps! Good reception on both blurb and cover as well.

Hi.
If it is important to know, my book is an adult urban fantasy, 7 book series. I'm nearing completion and have cover art being made.
I've seen some checklists for publishing, and I've seen many videos on them, but I've yet to find one that seems right for me. Also, I understand that there are a lot of choices that differ from one experience to the next. That said, I'm struggling to figure out all the what's, when's, and how's of publishing.
For example, when should I start marketing for my book? How soon should I get ARC readers? Who can I use for and how soon should I get copies of my boo ..read more

I copied the message they sent below. I've thoroughly learned my lesson of not accepting paid-for reviews, but this group has been leaving comments on my posts and are now following me on Instagram. Has anyone heard of them or worked with them? It feels like a scam, probably is a scam, but wanted to double check.

I just wanted to share my opinion on a first draft I got from getcovers.com and how it's actually a very good service for indie authors. I recently translated my novel from German to English and started designing a cover for it (as I am a designer myself) but I didn't really get to where I wanted it to be, so I ordered a premium cover from getcovers ($35). While they were working on it, I couldn't stop myself and actually somehow finished my own version, so now I have two covers that I both like.
The brief I gave them was pretty simple, it was basically just: A young guy in a protective suit ..read more

Publishing 3 mystery novels starting next month. Designed the covers myself. Bought a URL -- www.\[AuthorName\]Books.com.
And... I JUST saw that Amazon's got an author with this name already. BUT... Only 3 books listed (different genre) and virtually no sales.
Should I still go for another name? (I really like the pen name and would prefer to hang onto it.)
Also, there's another author with this name but with an 's' on the surname. E.g., George Bartletts vs George Bartlett.

I want to have a manuscript printed, a small run of 100 copies, no ebook, no marketing or distribution, just a nice trade paperback type book to give to family, friends and colleagues. I have an original cover design, and a formatted manuscript ready to send to a printer. It's mostly print, with some photo pages. I could do b&w or some color. What printers do you recommend?
Thanks.

So I've seen a few threads on this but it seems many people don't consider it to be reliable. I'm up to 30 something thousand words in my first story and I've been running paragraphs through cgpt with the prompt "help me smooth out this written passage"
I found it works best if I just paste a paragraph at a time, so I've been just kind of rolling it through the AI editor as I'm writing it. Admittedly, sometimes it doesn't give me the results I want, but for the most part it offers pretty good output. It also sucks that some of the more mature themes for my story, such as sex scenes, get flagg ..read more

I am hoping to get some advice with this. I recently had my book edited. I have worked with this editor previously and asked them to do another book, as I really liked their edits last time. I felt like this book needed much more editing than the previous one they edited, as it was well over 100k words, and the other was around 60k. It was a line edit for around $1300 but when I got the MS back, there were very few actual line edits, I mean like almost none. The editor told me in email that the book was already very well structured and I had a good grasp on grammar. The only things that seeme ..read more
