My space universe has gods in it and dragons. I have ranged and melee combat. Boarding action is common. I understand this goes under speculative fiction. But what if I can only pick science fiction on some sites? Will my content throw off potential readers? Thoughts ..read more

I just uploaded a few chapters of my small novel to Vella Kindle. What that is, you get to write your story in pieces. You put in a couple chapters or one then do another upload with a few more chapters. It's write as you go. I kind of like the idea. I have a book published in Kindle but getting few readers so I decided to try VELLA and I can let you know how that works out. Seems like if you're in the process of writing and can get 500 words in a week you can do it live on VELLA ..read more

REVIEWS - WHAT REVIEWS?

Let's see if I've got this straight; you publish an ebook, you need reviews (lots of them). Nobody will ever go near your book if it doesn't have reviews. But if no one's reading your book - then who's going to review it? Joseph Heller would be impressed ..read more

This is something I've seen for years, but I've particularly been spammed about it several times already this year. The proper way to register your copyrights in the USA is to use this URL: https://www.copyright.gov/registration/ If you do a Google search, you're likely to find sites that offer to "copyright for you". These are ALL scams. Every one of them. If you use their "service" you'll fill out the same forms in the same way as if you go to the REAL government web site. The... Read more ..read more

I've set-up a KDP account in order to poke around and familiarize myself with the site before actually publishing. Unfortunately, a lot of it is greyed out because I don't have anything uploaded yet, or ready to publish, (no book). Would there be any down sides to publishing a low-content something just to be able to see how things are done? Would it Pollute the brand, etc... I'm thinking of following one of those get rich on KDP, make Journals in an hour videos you see on YouTube... Read more ..read more

because it looks like they'll be very difficult to change later. Some specific questions: My title is, Guardian Angel. No subtitle. But as of this writing I'm definitely looking at e-Book, softcover, and hardcover editions, plus a potential softcover "enlarged print" (6x9 16 point), Large Print (8x10 18-point sans-serif), and audiobook version. How do I differentiate these in the listings? Just in the size/format descriptions, or should I add a subtitle (Guardian... Read more ..read more

Serials
Writing Forums » Self Publishing

Hello everyone, One of my favourite modes of storytelling is the fiction serial. One of my novelettes was originally a serial that was later put together into one volume. The trouble is that there are not a great many publications out there that still publish them (Indeed, LampLight is the only one that comes to mind). So, I was wondering whether any of you knew of anywhere to post the parts on a regular basis which would see a lot of traction. I intend on posting them here, but was... Read more ..read more
