Wikipedia defines Ubuntu as “a set of closely related African-origin value systems that emphasize the interconnectedness of individuals with their surrounding societal and physical worlds. ‘Ubuntu’ is sometimes translated as ‘I am because we are’ (also ‘I am because you are’) or ‘humanity towards others’.”
Ubuntu is Teach With Africa’s “North Star”, and it was on full display at TWA’s Annual Gala, honoring the dynamic Flora Mugambi-Mutunga, held March 27th at Bissap Baobab restaurant on Mission Street!

I had no idea what to expect, but the summit was invigorating. The working sessions were thought-provoking and inspiring. Other participants and I all recognized that though we come from different places, at core, teenagers are teenagers, students are students, and there is so much we can learn from them and each other.”

In the past few weeks, Teach With Africa welcomed four interns from CapeTown, South Africa accompanied by Hassiena Marriott, the Head of Education with the Global Teachers Institute. Teach With Africa’s Educators’ Exchange Program, in collaboration with Flora Mugambi-Mutunga, TWA’s Senior Community and Education Consultant, and The Global Teachers Institute sponsored this enriching opportunity.
