The family of a 48-year-old welder killed in an explosion that blew him through the roof of a business in Gloucester County has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against his former employer.
Bruce A. Cheeseman, of Cedarville, was working at Timberlane Welding & Services Inc. in Mullica Hill when the fatal accident occurred on June 15, 2022. The company performs truck and trailer repairs.

A new police chief in Cape May County is making history in her city.
Chief Katherine Madden was sworn into her new role with the North Wildwood Police Department on Wednesday, May 1. She's the city's first female police chief and the 14th in the city's history.
The city said Chief Madden is a lifelong North Wildwood resident and is the daughter of retired sergeant Thomas Flounders. She attended Margaret Mace Elementary School, Wildwood Catholic High School, and Rutgers University.

A South Jersey man and woman were accused of having crack cocaine and a loaded gun, authorities said.
Christine Sanfelice, 32, of Camden, and Alex Crawford, 27, of Hammonton, were arrested on Tuesday, Apr. 23. The Brigantine Police Department announced their arrests in a news release on Wednesday, May 1.
Officers responded to a report of a woman peeing behind a Wawa convenience store at around 10:21 a.m. A woman matching a caller's description denied the accusation, provided a name to police, and refused to answer questions.

A popular spot to see gorgeous sunsets on the Jersey Shore will soon have a new restaurant to enjoy meals along the waterfront.
Fish House is expected to open in the summer of 2024 in Lower Township, according to a teaser video on social media. The restaurant will be at 502 Sunset Boulevard on the former site of The Grille.
The seafood spot will be the newest edition to Sunset Beach, known for the site of the SS Atlantus wreckage.

An 85-year-old woman from South Jersey was killed in a two-car crash on Wednesday, May 1 in Mount Holly, authorities said.
Vera Stockton of Southampton was pulling out of a parking lot near CVS on Route 541 when another vehicle collided with her vehicle, Mount Holly Police Chief Richard W. Spitler said.
Stockton was trapped when Mount Holly police arrived at the scene at 9:23 a.m., the chief said.
Westampton firefighters extricated Stockton from the car before she was airlifted to Cooper Hospital where she was pronounced dead, he said.

A couple from Central New York was indicted for murder in the killing of an Atlantic City man, authorities said.
A grand jury indicted 24-year-old Howard Griswold of Baldwinsville, New York, and 28-year-old Melissa Tikarem of Manlius, New York, on Thursday, May 2 for several charges, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said in a news release. The pair was charged in the deadly shooting on Saturday, Jan. 20.

Two men from Mercer County were killed in a pair of shootings in a Trenton parking lot on Wednesday night, May 1, authorities said.
Jerome Francis, 43, of Hamilton, and Chevaughn Fagan, 28, of Trenton, died in the double shooting, according to Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J Onofri.
The Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department are investigating, Onofri said on Thursday, May 2. No arrests had been made, he said.

A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and killed in Toms River, authorities said.
In a news release, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said the pedestrian was hit near the intersection of Route 166 and Hilltop Road. The crash happened at around 8:25 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1.
Toms River police said the crash closed Route 166 between Lomell Lane and Mapletree Road. The county sheriff's department and prosecutor's office are helping in the investigation.

At the age of 16, CNN Anchor Alisyn Camerota left her Jersey Shore home to follow a local punk rock band, spending her nights at iconic clubs like CBGB and Max's Kansas City.

The second alarm system malfunction at Westwood Regional High School in a little over two weeks created a confusing scene as parents and guardians were dropping off their children on Thursday.
