I'm embarrassed to say I cannot tell if they're finding the volume of A) the sphere minus the hole bored or B) the hole bored. I'd think they're asking for A. But if you integrate from a/2 to a, that's the volume of the hole bored. But doesn't using the washer method indicate A?
