If you’re interested in joining the United States Navy Nuclear Field (NF) program, perhaps as a nuclear propulsion plant operator, there are a number of steps you need to take in order to qualify.
To be academically eligible for the NF program, you must have passed one full year of high school or college-level algebra. You must also meet the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) and Navy Advanced Programs Test (NAPT) requirements. You will need to take the NAPT if you do not qualify for the NF program based solely on your ASVAB line scores.

If you’re serving in the military and are looking to become a commissioned officer, passing the Officer Aptitude Rating (OAR) exam is the first step. Passing the exam does not guarantee a position and is only one element of the application process. High school and college GPAs and general application components all factor into placement.
If you are taking the OAR as a civilian that has yet to enlist, you must contact your recruiter to discuss next steps in the application process. Your scores will be used to determine admittance to Officer Candidate School.

If you’re a current member of the military, you now have the option to take a DSST exam online through a remote proctor with minimal setup. No need to find an open test site!
To participate in online testing, verify that your computer meets system and hardware requirements. You will then need to download and install the ProProctor application.
Currently, all DSST exams are available for online proctoring with the exception of The Principles of Public Speaking Parts 1 & 2, which are only available at a testing center.
