Ricky was threatened with homelessness and ‘didn’t have anywhere to go’ at the start of this year.
The former welder was struggling to find housing following the Covid-19 pandemic and a relationship breakdown.
A friend recommended he get in touch with charity Crisis, where staff in turn told him about the employment opportunities available for soap artists at Labre’s Hope.
Ricky, aged 32, said: “I didn’t have anywhere to go, I wasn’t on the council housing waiting list.

As you walk into the workshop at Labre’s Hope, you are immediately faced with an uplifting, colourful mural that fills the room with positivity and energy.
This was created by Hazel, artist and illustrator, who works under the name of Nocciola The Drawer.
The piece, which took 11 days, was created all free hand, and was designed to brighten up the days of everyone who sees it, while evoking emotions of inspiration and empowerment.

Christina is one of the first 10 beneficiaries employed by Labre’s Hope, which will be supporting people at the end of their homelessness journey through full-time employment in hand made cosmetics.
To mark International Women’s month which celebrates the cultural, political, and socioeconomic achievements of women, we spoke to Christina who has embarked on her employment with Labre’s Hope this month.

The first organisation in the UK to support those experiencing homelessness into employment through eco-friendly cosmetics making has launched this week.
Labre’s Hope based in Rotherham was co-founded by 25-year-old Aaron Probert and 23-year-old Joash Nelson-Piercy and will get those experiencing homelessness back into work by providing them with an employment opportunity to make handcrafted, sustainable cosmetics.
